SLAM SCI-FI HI-FI 5
Following on from Luciano, Ewan Pearson, Alex Smoke and Funk D Void, the SOMA label bosses are next in the DJ Mix CD series "Sci-Fi Hi-Fi". SLAM deliver a heady blend of forward-thinking, mind-bending organic, groovy techno. This mix is a real journey starting with their trade mark deep spacey sonic tones and building in intensity throughout the mix, taking in influences from minimal to Latin beats and even some disco. The mix also shows where their label Soma is heading in the next 12 months with some tracks from some of the new artists they have signed recently, as well as 2 exclusive Slam tracks from their new 12 inch label Paragraph. OUT 30TH JUNE 2008.

Since release of their album Human Response last Summer, in between constant touring, SLAM have remixed DK7, Unkle, Radioslave, Sasha and Subban (Leftroom). Following on from the massive Azure single, Human Response was Slam’s fourth studio album. Never content to stand still, Slam twist the techno genre further still, to create a forward-thinking new sound all of their own. They are artists at their creative peak. In this technological age, Slam utilise the human touch to inject a myriad of emotions into their electronic, machine music. “Staccato Raveâ€, including remixes from Adam Beyer and Silicone Soul, receiving play from a broad section of house and techno DJs is the current single release , with Ghost Song- with a remix from Joris Voorn still to come.
From Manchester's Hacienda in 1989 and KU(now Privilege) in Ibiza in 1990, to their current residencies at Pressure Glasgow, Fabric London and the Loft Barcelona, Slam have played all around the world, championing UK underground electronic music, whilst always living and working in their home base of Glasgow, where they have helped to develop and influence one of the best music and party cities anywhere. Ask any of the bands and DJs who have performed at their monthly Pressure parties. People like Vitalic, Laurent Garnier, Ricardo Villalobos, Jeff Mills, Richie Hawtin, Green Velvet and Andrew Weatherall all cite the city and the club as being amongst their favourite in the world. When you add that Slam are currently preparing their 12th production of their annual, Slam Tent (15000 capacity) at the T in The Park festival in Scotland, (which sold out in an hour again this year), then you start to get a feel for the passion for their scene and their music that Orde Meikle and Stuart McMillan have. The label they created in 1991, SOMA, is another example of their dedication to the cause. At a time where its daunting to be an independent label, Soma is incessant in its march forward, confirming a position in dance music's history. Soma’s new and established artists like Decimal, Silicone Soul, Funk D Void, Alex Smoke, Jandroide, Vector Lovers, The Black Dog, Mr. Copy and Octogen all help to make Slam's label one of the most forward thinking around.
