Many directions, but its all the same journey

About Me

Dissident Productions is a music production outfit which was based in Africa between 1998 and 2007.In Kenya, 'Diss' helped out with production and beats for upcoming artists such as Sam Ondieki, TPT, and Rodi & Scarlet. As a percussionist, Diss performed on congas and djembe on albums by Suzanne Owiyo and Yunasi, recorded in the studios of Ted Josiah's Blu Zebra and the Homeboyz and played live with a bunch of groups and singers including Gidi-Gidi Maji Maji, an ever-mutating salsa band (Thursday nights at Pavement in Westlands, THE place to be in Nairobi at that time), Mercy Myra, and Zanaziki, including at the Festival Mundial, Tilburg, Netherlands in 2002.Diss moved to Rwanda in 2005, worked with Congolese musicians and soaked up inspiration from Rwandan musicians such as Ben Ngabo. In mid 2007, Diss relocated to Ottawa - which may not be party central, but enjoys better broadband access than Rwanda... and ain't that far from Montreal either. Diss now has more time to do some more music so watch this space... styles are afro-influenced but the music is primarily electronic, ranging from reggae to house.
