Everybody loves an ArtSlut!

About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting

.. AND... We're back! Just returned to my beloved Key West and am working on opening another gallery. It's gonna be so great! LA was cool and I really miss the amazing friends I made there, but I'm an island girl and I'm so happy to be back with these lovely people by the warm, beautiful water. All the ArtSlut stuff is still going great, but now I get to do it from home. Yay! More updates are coming soon. Meanwhile, get the book & visit the Ask ArtSlut Advice Column at www.ArtSlut.com! AND, coming soon: "Wild Arts & Wild Times" on ArtSlutTV... also at ArtSlut.com!
ArtSlut is a dharma based business that exists to make money(duh!), but also to provide opportunities for artists & art enthusiasts of all kinds. Everyone does SOMETHING creative & everybody loves an ArtSlut. Whether you sing in the shower or make sculptures out of left over food (Sloan!)... we get you.
An ArtSlut loves the arts indiscriminately & lives life creatively.br>
So, Check it out! Wanna be 'discovered' for your creative genius? Read the book & wear the shirt! Everytime you do, people will stop you to talk about your art (& your shirt) I promise! THAT'S great marketing!
Here are a few things you might like to know: 1) I have a really terrible memory that may be due to bad genes, over exposure to airborn enamels, over indulgence, or a terrible car accident in which I suffered a sever head injury on my 20th birthday. If I don't remember meeting you, please don't take offense. It is certainly not intentional. I know, my excuses sound lame, but they are all true. So, please forgive me and know that I am happy to meet you everytime. Thank you for understanding. 2) I don't drive (see reason above) and I'm not going to start. I hope this isn't a deal breaker for our MySpace friendship! And, if you're thinking of stalking me - Ron, the FBI is still watching you. So, don't even try it, you Fucker! 3) Oh, back to ArtSlut... It started as an accident. I was a lifelong artist, who did a sculpture that took off & led me to open a gallery. I was really bummed to find out how everyone's succumbing to these negative stereotypes about the arts & I did a sort of anti-elitist, 'What would you do for art?' window display & people went nuts! The next thing you know I sold about 10,000 t-shirts. So, I decided to sell the gallery & move to CA to figure out how to run a brand & really do something good with this. We've obviously got something fabulous! Now, I've published the first book & am working on opening another gallery, while the show is being produced. ArtSlutTV is going to help a lot of artists while making the arts 'accessible' by being fascinating and hillarious - That's my beautiful dream & it's happening! Yay!As for ownership - I'm not the first person to use the two words together, but I am the first one to use it to help artists & I'm the one who trademarked it. Yes. It's a real, registered trademark - both as one word & two... because I never want to be a 'starving' artist again & hopefully, neither will you. A lot of the work that's done on the site, profile page, tee designs, etc... has been done by people who basically volunteer, because they believe in the project & I am so thankful for them. Thanks for taking the time to read all of this & I hope to see you on ArtSlut.com & in an ArtSlut tee! Please go to the site & send me questions about anything! I'm not by any means a know it all, but most people find my whack-ass advice to be pretty entertaining! If you'd like to get more involved (& I would like it if you would), send an email to the Office Slut: [email protected] out the mini-version of the ArtSlutTV sizzle reel here or go to ArtSlut.com. Episodes are on the way - I swear!

My Interests

I am a dork & risk taker. I just moved back to Key West after moving to CA in 2006. After 10 years on the island of Key West & a great career, it was time for a change. It was a thrilling adventure, with new people & experiences, but I am SO GLAD to be HOME! I'm working on a new gallery that will include ArtSlut, of course! I have amazing friends & family, thank God, because my love life... well, too sensitive, I guess (I am NOT looking for love on MySpace. So, let's not, k? It's just wierd. Thanks!). I love being on the ocean. I travel a lot for fun & am a truly lucky person. I like to be busy & when I'm not working, I like to play. I'm learning to balance life & work a lot better.
My vision is to live on three different beaches (in houses, not the sand!), do the work I love, be surrounded by my friends, do my art work & writing, have an awesome little dog & be a beautiful, happy, little family. That's what really interests me. Isn't that what everybody wants?

I'd like to meet:

You! Everyone who dares to believe or try something new or who just won't give up... Anyone involved in anything creative or who is trying to do the right thing, people who make something out of nothing & especially, anyone who's an ArtSlut. I love people who are passionate about what they do. Oh, I especially want to meet men named Art. Tee hee hee!

"Pretty is as Pretty does!" Oh yeah, I'd like to meet AMAZING English lyricist, Kate Nash, people who are kind, funny & brave enough to say the truth in a kind way & ESPECIALLY, people who are smart enough to see that 'Slut' in this context is anything but, derogatory... This is to meant to make people get a chuckle & feel good!
Custom Friends Space Generator

Music:

I LOVE RAVEN COOPER & KATE NASH + have a new interest in House & electronic, but like everything from OLD swingy country, like The Louvin' Bros. to 80's, Big Band, Samba... I love jazz. I have very eclectic taste in music, but to name a few - The Pixies, XTC, Elvis Costello, WEEN, Flaming Lips, Bowie, The Strokes, Aimee Mann, G Love, Mashups, Everything But the Girl, Wheezer, Miles Davis, Jack Johnson, Dave Mathews, Cold Play, Queen, ELO, Modest Mouse, Billy Harvey, Charlie Parker, The DelFonics, Simply Red, FatBoy Slim, Blue Boy, Bill Withers, Pete Yorn, Dee Lite, Groove Armada, Mark Farina, Kruder & Dorfmeister...Way too many to mention - you get the gist. Sound track to 'The Life Aquatic' is purely wonderful.

Movies:

Adaptation, Shawshank, Magnolia, Big Fish, Wedding Crashers, Swingers, The Andy Warhol Story, Trainspotting, Summer of Sam... anything artsy/funky weird... anything by Peter Greenaway is great by me. On the other hand, I'll never turn down a good thriller, but I prefer a good mental twist to gore and I will not watch anything that features cucarachas, ever.

Television:

I LOVE ArtSlutTV! + shows on travel, decorating, make-overs, home re-modeling, wierd adult swim cartoons like Family Guy, old SNL, Sex & the City, Badly Drawn, Reno 911, Big Love & true crime. I love the Sopranos - sorry to be predictable & I'm sickeningly drawn to shows on plastic surgery, too. Is that wrong? Talk about creative, WOW!

Books:

The books I write! Enjoy "The ArtSlut's Guide to Makin' It ~As a Visual Artist"! You can get it at www.ArtSlut.com of course :p

I also love books written by David Sloan, Terry Schmida and Rob Oneal. Be sure and Google them for some serious island coolness! Outsida that I love business, art & decorating magazines - pretty much in that order. As for other reading - trade journals, how to's, the occassional self help & once in a while a gripping suspense type book. I can't deny there's some good fluff too - like the Bad Girl's Guides, Sweet Potato Queens & Bridget Jones - I am a chick, after all. I have an awesome book of bad hair cuts!

Heroes:

People who are emotionally aware enough to be genuinely, considerate of others' feelings & kind + people who are Great Parents! And, people who tell it like it is in a creative way, like Bonnie Rait, my friend - Raven Cooper, Kate Nash & Frida Kahlo, even Martha. I have big art heroes. Hmm, I'm a big fan of Bill Clinton - even though I'm totally against cheating. OH!! Jimmy Carter is a good one.
