Versatile Singer/Songwriter Lena Kovak born (1982) in Belgrade, began playing piano and singing at an early age. Fascinated by Jazz and pop/alternative music scene, she soon began writing and performing music, combining these styles. In 2001 she performed at the music festival that featured such artists as Moloko, The Cult and Iggy Pop. Since 2002-2006 she has been studding at the Music Conservatory of Amsterdam where she continued her master studies. Lena has participated in master-classes given by: Shiela Jordan, Mark Murphy, Bobby McFerrin, Richard Bona and others.
Deeply involved to faithfully cherished Orthodox spiritual music at that time she began leading the Gospel choir in Amsterdam. In 2003 she was featured on movie soundtrack The Professional which was an Oscar nominee for that year. In Holland she had an honor to began performing with one of the leading JAzz Orchestras, the Dutch Royal Orchestra, with whom she did a three-moths tour in Netherlands and Belgium while performing Balkan traditional music. In 2007 Lena Kovak has appeared as a soloist in John Clayton and Terrell Stafford project "Exploring the Black Roots in Jazz", staged right before the concert of Nigel Kennedy and Al Di Meola at the Hague Jazz Festival. She has recently recorded a traditional song from Kosovo that was remixed by a Belgian producer Buscemi, to be released in June 2008.
Currently working on the original tunes with her band she is about to record and release her debut album.
