Feel free to send me a message or comment!SrdjanSrdjan Ivanovic - drummer/composerAfter moving to Athens, Greece in 1992 he starts playing the drums at the age of 13 and studies with the Greek drummer George Polychronakos. In 2003 he left for Holland, Amsterdam, where he studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Marcel Serierse, Martijn Vink, Lucas van Merwijk, Gerard Jeltes and graduated (BMus) in 2007. He has also attended workshops and masterclasses of a.o. Terry Lynne Carrington, Ari Hoening, Jim Black and has taken lessons with drummers as Ronnie Burrage and Kostas Anastasiadis.
Srdjan is now doing master's studies with Joost Kesselaar at the Utrechts Conservatorium.As a percussionist he was awarded twice the first prize and once the second prize in 3 consecutive years at the 'Hellenic Traditional Music Competition'.In April 2008 he won the Holland Casino Jazz&Pop Award with his band the "Blazin' Quartet". The band has won the Dutch Jazz Competition, with the finals held at the North Sea Jazz festival, in July of the same year. In 2009 he won again the Holland Casino Jazz&Pop Award with the Aleksandar Grujic Trio.He has performed live in Greece, Holland, Serbia, Bosnia, Italy, Poland, Austria, Germany, France, Egypt and played and recorded with many of the best musicians in Greece and in Holland (Yotis Kiourtsoglou, David Lynch, Dimitris Tsakas, Giorgos Palamiotis, Harris Lambrakis, Dimos Dimitriadis, Mark v/d Feen, Paul v/d Feen, Slobodan Trkulja, Alex Simu, Michael Rorby a.o.) and played with bands such as Levantina, Makrina Ksaderfia, Giorgos Palamiotis Band, Georgia Velivasaki Band, Tarhana a.o.As a member of the dutch based balkan-mestizo-puk band Mala Vita he has toured holland and europe and played on many important festivals.
Besides playing with Amsterdam based bands like the “Branko Galoic Band†and “Pencilbrainâ€, he has been the co-creator of “Official Languageâ€, who's first album “Talking†is expected to be published in 2008.Currently he is leading his band of creative musicians, the “Blazin' Quartet†with which he has appeared on important festivals in 2008, the Jazz-A-Paloozza in Utrecht and the North Sea Jazz in Rotterdam and appearing with Mala Vita in a.o Parkpop in Den Haag.
