After studying at the London College of Music and passing numerous theory and practical exams in Pianoforte, Joy Malcolm, first emerged from the crowd back in 1995, when she delivered her excellent vocal performances throughout Incognito's most successful album ever, 'one hundred degrees and risin'This album, which predominantly features Joy's voice, gave the band it's first ever highest credibility and record sales around the world.During 1996, Joy successfully completed a world tour with Incognito, and this exposure was one of the highlights of Joy's career and even today, the memory of Joys live performances still live in the minds of many who were privileged to have seen Joy live on stage.Joy has had the pleasure of working live on television singing with Chaka Khan, and live on stage with George Benson, Roy Ayers, Dianne Reeves, Jocelyn Brown, Leon Ware, Kenny Thomas, Monie Love, and many more to name but a few. Prior to even joining the Incognito band, Joy was working with one of her greatest friends and influences, Caron Wheeler whom she has continued to maintain a deep friendship with today. She also wrote and recorded songs with the likes of, Philadelphia based band, 'The Roots', Tim Lawes, Young Disciples, Robert Owens and Jolyon Skinner, (current producer/songwriter for US Rnb artist, 'Joe').She also sang background vocals on Maxi Priest's song, 'For the love of You', 80s pop sensation band Madness, Drizabone, French rapper Mc Solar, Bomb the Bass, Katherine Jenkins, James Morrison, Westlife, Shayne Ward, Snow Patrol, James Morrison, Lemar, Will Young, Leona Lewis Coldcut, live television with Heather Small and live on stage at the jazz cafe with the all time lovers rock legends, Carroll Thompson and Janet Kay She wrote and co-produced a theme song which was later used as the soundtrack for a short British movie, Punchbag.Over the years, Joy has continued her musical relationship with Vienna based Spray Records (ex BMG) signed artist/producer, 'Klaus Waldeck', and today, she is even referred to as 'the voice of Waldeck'. On albums Balance of the Force and The Night Garden, Joy co-writes and co-produces on them. Her most recent collaboration with Waldeck is on his Ballroom Stories 2007 album, where the first song on the album "Make My Day", was featured heavily on a Mercedes Benz advert in Vienna.Joy also went on a European tour with BMG international star, Eros Ramazzotti, singing in Italian and Spanish!. This involved a lot of live television exposure throughout Europe singing in front of thousands of people. Joy sang in nearly every Arena in Europe and each concert was a sell-out show!In 2005, she sang backing vocals on 5 songs on Michael Mcdonalds Motown album. She also toured most of South America with Moby and while they were in Chile, they ended up spending most of the day into the night, in a recording studio.During 2006 Joy toured and recorded with pop legend, Bryan Ferry and she features on his recently released 2007 Dylanesque album. This talented lady also played a major role in the Musical, "Caroline or Change" (playing the role as one of the "Radio voices), which was showing at the National Theatre from October 2006 to January 2007. The show won 2 major musical awards!. Since 2007 begun, Joy has recorded some new songs with Moby in New York in the preparation of his 2007 Greatest Hits album release. She also featured on the Rolling Stones song "Im Free", which was remixed by Moby and was used for the Chase Bank Advert across America. She recently had a laugh busking outside Sloan Square with Moby and they made £6!
