About Me

Typewriter's music is psychedelic, progressive, postpunk, folkpop, heavy, fresh, complicated & hypnotic. Sometimes not complicated. Some pieces vocally melodic - other tracks instrumental, bleeping & pulsing. Although performed almost exclusively by Bandola - ex singer and player in South London's The Lucy Show - the 2 albums by Typewriter feature a wide range of guest appearances. Debut album 'Skeleton Key' was released in late 2003 and featured an avalanche of material ( some accumulated over the years, then shoved in with new material ). MOJO magazine described it thus: "With the flair of a Rundgrenesque renaissance man, ex-Lucy Show singer/guitarist Bandola has assembled 31 tracks of shimmering eclectic delight. Even though it leaps from loops and samples to alt country and shameless rock guitar, this album never feels fragmentary." **** Also MUSIC-CRITIC.com wrote: "...veers wildly between just about every single style of music you've ever heard of. And it's beautiful. The transitions between the tracks are sometimes harsh, and the musical styles butted up against each other don't always make what's called "sense." But that's just a good argument against "sense." Because when songs are this good, nothing else matters." ***** Summer 2006 saw the release of 2nd album entitled 'Birdsnest'. The BIG TAKEOVER says: " There are movements through sound weaving against the solid vision of the album, tracing pathways from Sonic Boom back to Lucy Show and then around to Pink Floyd and back again. Bandola holds every song up to atmospheric heights with his signature shimmering guitar and his enchanted vocals. This album is an adventure that seems to change a little with each listen, and each listen is a little better. " When not making music, painting pictures, or torching his PC, Bandola finds peace and inspiration by cuddling and/or fighting with his neighbour's cat, or jumping in the river.
