PREVIEW OF THE ROUGH MIXES FOR THE FORTHCOMING ALBUM 'LOST DAYS'
"Lost Days is a good album with good songs. Better than 99% of what's currently out there." -- Alan McGee (former head of Creation Records)
ROBERT VANDEVEN is a former founding member and singer/songwriter with THE LUCY SHOW , who signed to A & M Records and released the two cult classic albums ‘UNDONE’ and ‘MANIA’ . They flourished as a band in the mid to late 80’s and released numerous singles during that time. ‘Mania’ was re-released in 2006 by the Minneapolis based label ‘Words On Music’. The label are currently working on re-releasing ‘Undone’ and a retrospective rarities album of the bands music. He released the album ‘AVA’ in 1996 under the name ZERO ZERO on Redhead Records.
‘The Lucy Show’ were brought to the attention of the UK public and the major record labels by John Peel who played thier debut single ‘Leonardo da Vinci’ on heavy rotation.
They toured the UK and America (where they were a number one college band coast to coast) extensively, supporting such bands as REM, New Order and Cocteau Twins.
PRAISE FOR THE LUCY SHOW:
‘Mania’ - A harmonius pop attack. 4 stars. -- Q MAGAZINE
‘Mania’ by The Lucy Show is not only one of the greatest alternative albums of the 80s, but one of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time. -- Jim Harris, SUBCULTURE MAGAZINE
Stalwarts of the London post-punk scene. A shame their career was so brief. 4 stars. -- MOJO MAGAZINE
‘Mania’ - A warm, poetic record. The band's skill is for subtle melodies — even at their loudest the tunes are understated and invite successive listens. -- NME
‘Undone’ - Shimmeringly cool. -- Tom Hibbert, SMASH HITS MAGAZINE
‘Mania’ - The Lucy Show's perpetual out of print status robbed subsequent generations of inspiration and influence. Until now. Now we can all finally rediscover this ace old LP with its undertones of enchanting magic. -- Jack Rabid, THE BIG TAKEOVER MAGAZINE
There are a number of guest musicians on the songs, most notably Danny Griffiths and Darius Keeler , the founder members of the incredible British collective ARCHIVE who have released a string of albums over the last ten years and are a stadium filling act in France and many parts of Europe. They were number one on Virgin radio France with the single ‘BULLETS’ in March 2009. The album 'CONTROLLING CROWDS' reached number one on iTunes France and the Fnac charts, the major retailer in France in April. As of writing the album resides at number seven on the French national charts. Go to friends to see more of Archive.
