Musicians on the CD are Justin Humphries on drums and percussion, Gary Norman on guitar, Michael Matthews on bass, keyboards and programming, Helen Mountford on Cello, and Kaz on vocals and guitar. The CD is a mix of cool jazz, funk and classic pop with a twist.Kaz works mainly as a solo artist, but has been lead singer and songwriter in several bands both here and in Scotland. These have included Wild Rice, Parma Violet, and Burn of Sorrow.As a writer Kaz is influenced by artists such as Elvis Costello, Joni Mitchell, Ron Sexsmith and Tom Waits, songwriters with an understanding and love of words as well as melody. Amongst the many independent artists Kaz promotes on her weekly radio show on Joy 94.9 are Ani Di Franco, The Weepies, Noe Venables, and Martha Wainright. Local talent Kaz frequently plays include Kate Miller Heidke, Jen Cloher, and Clare Bowditch. Her vocals have been compared with Joan Armatrading, kd Lang, Annie Lennox and Tracy Thorn from Everything But The Girl.
