Rain

About Me

Excellent raw album that captures a timeless urban experience I have listened to the CD many times and have seen the band at least a half dozen times. This first CD of their’s is a powerful musical rendition of the glory and darness of urban life. The lyrics and music are well matched sounding like early proto-grunge. John does an excellent job of capturing the joyful melancholy of the Northwest and Urban, while never forgetting that music should entertain. The blend of electric instruments and John’s matter-of-fact voice makes an interesting marriage...part folk, mostly punk and a bit of old fashion rock and roll. The self-titled track is perhaps my favorite and is instantly catchy. I encourage anyone who likes this type of music to order this rare album, you will not be disappointed. Elliot Madison Fountain House WeeklyRain’s debut CD Dream is out now. It is available at CD Baby, Amazon and in some NYC record stores .Rain has been together in it’s present line up arond a year. The band which guitarist and singer John McConnell formed in 1998 has been through a series of personnel changes since then. McConnell sang and wrote the lyrics in Portland Oregon punk bands Suburban Guerillas and Soul Device in the early 80’s. Soul Device included Sam Henry (Wipers, Napalm Beach, Morgan Grace) on drums.Rain recorded Dream their debut CD in the summer of 2006 in NYC.
