Influences: ICE is what's often called a 'post-minimalist' band. It is inspired in its music and its politics by the Dutch avant-garde composer Louis Andriessen. It plays a number of works by him but also pieces by other composers of Andriessens's generation (Philip Glass, Michael Nyman, Gavin Bryars, Diderik Wagenaar, Cornelis de Bondt, for example) and younger composers (Damian LeGassick, John Godfrey, Steve Martland and Yannis Kyriakides from Britain, Erik Buenger from Sweden, Heiner Goebbels from Germany, Michael Gordon, David Lang and Michael Torke from the USA, and many others). It is a collective and plays and records very complicated scores without a conductor.
Sounds Like: Proper music being mugged down a back alley.
