About Me

"Triplets" has kindly been made available on this site by RTE lyric fm, the Irish classical music channel. This work was commissioned from Irish composer Michael McGlynn by RTE lyric fm. Prey is a trio of women, passionate about chamber and contemporary music, and creative education work. We perform a vibrant mix of contemporary, classical, medieval and world music. In our concerts around Ireland, we use all the flutes, clarinets and oboes, as well as voice and percussion. In ’07 Prey devised a show with director Chrissie Poulter based on music by Britten, with funding from the Arts Council of Ireland. Metamorphoses was first performed in Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray in September ’07. (We’re currently planning a promotional DVD which will appear on this page.)Prey and Chrissie will travel to Stamsund International Theatre Festival, Lofoten Islands, Norway in June ’08 to perform Metamorphoses and take part in other collaborative concerts. We are still very interested in exploring further how a performance can be shaped by a space and it’s audience on the night. Why ‘Prey’? Because we tried ‘The Darling Buds’ and ‘Three Little Kittens’ and they just didn’t fit!All our repertoire has been arranged by us or written for us. It allows us to mix bass clarinet, bass flute and oboe d’amore; or piccolo, oboe and e flat clarinet, and revel in the startlingly different colours created. To book Prey for a concert or a performance of Metamorphoses, please click the 'mail' link above (under our photo) and leave your contact details or email preytrio @ yahoo.ie
