My name is Charlie Wooton and the Love of my life is Traci(my muse). I was born in raised in Lafayette, La. My heroes are my Papa, Mama, Mom, Dad and my four older brothers. I was around music my whole life but when my foster brother left a bass at my house one summer I knew what I was going to do 'til the day I died. I'm very fortunate in my musical experiences. My brothers and high school band director were the foundation for my career. Moving to L.A. at 20 years old and $20 in my pocket I got a job at rehearsal studio where I got to meet and play with all the musicians we used to dream about. One in particular was Kim Stone(Spyro Gyra, The Rippingtons), who refused on giving me lessons but let me come over to his house and jam(that's cool). I now own and play the bass he gave me. I live in Atlanta, Ga. were I now front a band called Zydefunk and also share the stage with Donnie McCormick, Oliver Wood and Sean Costello in Coop Da Ville. Charlie's Funk........This band features Count M'Butu on percussion of (The Derek Trucks Band). He is my favorite person to play with. The rest of the members consist of more of my favorite people. They are on a constant rotating chair. I'll start with Jason LaMarca on drums, he and I played together almost everyday for 5 years. While he was my drummer in Zydefunk we often got hired as a rythm section for other projects. Playing with him is like sitting in my own easy chair at home. Next would have to be Mark Kueffner. This dude is awsome, you can here his keyboard work on some of the recordings on this site. Other members include Oliver Wood:Guitar, Jack Jones:Drums, Ike Stubblefield:Organ, Henry Turner:Guitar, Dick Smith:Guitar, Ted Pecchio bassist with The Codetalkers (that's right 2 bass players; how low can you go!) and J. Sharp on Keys and any great musician that's willing to play with me for $10.(Ha,Ha)
