About Me

Coy Bowles
Coy Bowles is a musician of passion and soul who's out there playing and singing like his life depends on it. When your done witnessing one of his sets you'll probably want to see him all over again the very next night. It's easy to see the expansive influences in Coys' music. A virtually A-Z map of the greats, from Ray Charles-like soul, to Paul Simon-like world music, to Southern Blues, to Coys' original pieces that just simply sound like Coy. His musical abilities include a unique take on vocal, guitar, slide guitar, pedal steel, and piano. As Coy himself puts it, "When I started writing music for this band I really wanted to compose music that the listeners could connect to, I wanted to create a distinct and completely original sound. I wanted to find a balance between great inventive arrangements and a healthy hat-nod to my musical heroes." Coy has had the chance to write, record and or perform with a wide assortment of great musicians such as legendary jazz saxophonist Kenny Garrett, jazz pianist Gary Motley, blues guitarist Tinsley Ellis, Atlanta music legend Donny McCormick, organist and composer Ike Stubblefield, Inobe, and many other talented Altlanta musicians.
The Fellowship
The band fuses the roots of blues with the spontaneity of jazz with hints of gospel, and country, but never forgets to keep rockin'. Coy and The Fellowship perform music for the people, about the people, and with the people. The spirit behind the songs is deep and heartfelt, full of radio-ready hooks and luscious melodies for any hungry ears. This band has more fun than any group of guys you've probably ever seen. Everyone's laughing, smiling from ear to ear, feeling the music deep down in their souls, transporting the audience to a place where they should drop their worries, open up, and ride the good vibes.
Into The Distance
Coy Bowles and The Fellowship have just finished recording their first CD release, entitled "Into The Distance". This breakthrough debut is destined to become a classic in the collection of everyone who's been looking for something new to recapture what you loved about great rock in the first place. With lush songwriting that leans towards the likes of Elton John, Paul Simon, and Van Morrison, to hard hitting horn arrangements, vibrant instrumentation and vituosity, all solidly encapsulated by Coy's dark soulful voice, this album is HOT.
The album features a spectacular ensemble of Atlantas finest musicians such as Blue Note Recording artist Oliver Wood of The Wood Brothers on the dreamy country duet "Goodbye Lullaby", as well as Kevin Leahy who was previously the drummer for Shawn Mullins, and arranger/trombonist Wes Funderburk who is currently recording with Natalie Cole.
Stylistically, the album effortlessy shifts genres and oozes soulful rock. Whether it's the Caribbean feel of "I've Been Waiting", or the weekend anthem "Saturday Night", or the delightful duet with Oliver Wood on "Goodbye Lullaby" or the introspective look at life and death on the title track "Into the Distance", Coy Bowles and Fellowship bring you a kaleidoscope of music that you can enjoy anytime, anywhere.
