Jetpack Comics LLC is the small but well stocked comic shop that sprang from the untimely closing of the paperback bazaar (formerly located in somersworth, nh.
When the rising cost of mall rent and the decline in gaming & book sales forced the closing of one the areas most well known comic and gaming shops, the crew took it on themselves to preserve the traditions and values they had learned from their former employer at The Paperback Bazaar. With a focus on customer service and a well stocked store the crew vowed to continue what the PBBZ had started.
For weeks after its closing, with the help of some awesome New England retailers, dozens of PBBZ customers were delivered their new comics in a timely manner. Ralph drove his crappy old van into the ground trying to get it all together. He and Al scoured the area looking for an easily accessible retail location with a rent that could be afforded. With in a month of the closing Jetpack Comics LLC was born!
We're just a bunch of comic / game / sci-fi / fantasy / nerd guys and gals (technically GAL but we hope it will get PLURAL real soon - big shout out to LISA) that really love this hobby. Our Free Comic Book Day 2008 was the craziest FREE COMIC BOOK DAY ever. Special guests included Scott Wegener of Atomic Robo, Shawn McManus of Fables and TONS more, The Fatsquad, Severed Head Comics, The Barrington Middle School Comic Book Club, Jorge Vega and Dominic Vivona of GUNPLAY, Ron Fortier, Rich Woodall and more, more, more. It took place all over Rochester and included a HUGE presence by the New England 501st Star Wars costuming group. Wait until you see what we've got planned for 2009!
