Sounds Like: Well, it's clearly designed as a late 50's-early 60's Blue Note Modern Jazz quintet with 2 horns harmonies. Wayne Shorter, amongst all is my composition guru so there are a few tunes which echoes the likes of Witch Hunt and Lady Day. But also some "Monkish" and French Cinema type tunes (there's a little bit of a famous soundtrack quoted in "Nouvelle Vague"...).No modal or free stuff, no show-off, no ground breaking sound, no modern beats - so far... the band is very level and ego-less so we're aiming at having a great time playing some nice music with the odd quirky bit for good measure.
Just pleasant and groovy tunes with horns harmonies, couterpoint, interplay and all the idioms of the late 50's modern jazz. As time goes, more recent tunes carry some mid-60's identity which will definitely be a component of next year's new album.
