Hello! I'm a piano player and composer, ear-trainer and father. My band, Curios, plays the tunes I write. We've got a myspace page which is all about us, so I'll spare you here. I have given them the number 1 position on my friends, I should have thought.
Apart from Curios, I'm a freelance piano player and play keyboards with Acoustic Ladyland. I've appeared with lots of UK jazz people (that look a bit silly in a long list) in lots of places (that look a bit silly in a long list). I won't list them. I've co-written songs with some people who don't look silly in a long list, namely Gwyneth Herbert (OK, the name looks a bit silly), Joy Rose, Tammy Weis and Louise Griffiths. I also write some electronic music and record myself singing, but this is strictly for my own personal consumption.
Every Wednesday I become a professor of Aural Training & Transcription at the Royal Academy of Music, which is fun and involves singing in four-part dirge. They sometimes let me take an ensemble, which becomes a highlight of my life, as the standard of musician kids there is unbelievable. The future of jazz is safe, let me tell you.
I've also got two beautiful children, Joseph and Greta. There are pictures of them in my pictures bit. Below is a moving image of Joseph dressed as Virgil Tracey, freestyling at the piano. He calls this one 'International Rescue'.
