Louvana is a traditional Cypriot soup. It is also the name of a monthly event of eclectic music happening in the back room of the Grosvenor Pub in Stockwell, South London. The aim of Louvana is to create a scene based around good quality music and put on events where you can come down and enjoy the whole nite and meet up with other like-minded people.
The nites started running in March 2007 a nite that was headlined by the truly unique The Invisible (who were then called My Angel’s Boombox). Louvana is always hosted by Masters of Disguise who do a set every month between another two bands. Usually one of the bands comes from outside London or the country. The styles range from rock – psychedelic – folk - experimental – pop.
Along the way Acoustic Louvana was born which takes place once a month as well at the cosy Bodrum Café on Stoke Newington High st. As the name suggests this is the acoustic equivalent of the band nite and it features some of the best acoustic acts in London and beyond. Usually it’s hosted by Pigling Bland. You can see all the people that appeared at the different Louvana nites here on the left.
The rest you can come and check out for yourself...
