RIZLA's & ROB DA BANK no.1
To get into the Bestival free, they sent an mp3 to a Rizla competition after not being selected to take part in the IW Bestival competition. It was a last chance entry.
To their own amazement, they won the accolade of being UK's most inspired unsigned band thanks to Radio 1's Rob Da Bank, got to the Bestival and performed at the Rizla Arena hosted by The Bays. This resulted in being asked back to perform the Rizla DJ arena the following year along with Don Letts, Terry Hall, Andy Votel, Pete Fowler, Tim Love Lee, Jim Stanton & James Baillie and getting some free Rizla clothing.
AND SINCE?
Within that year, The Chancers tried hard to come together and record. After a breezeblock stable they rented became too cold, the guys hired out Haylands farm community hall for a weekend to create more tunage.
Results were good but slow, so it was welcome news when them same Bee's invited The Chancers to come in and lay down some tracks at their own special recording studio's.
Not only that, but also top local Producer (of 'Big brother' theme tune fame) Andy Gray also invited them to lay down the songs he had heard performed live at a local Ryde theatre gig.
Playing live, the guys sound as good as the recordings and often better. They have had some fantastic and inspirational support slots including, The Pea's, New Master Sounds, Scratch Perverts, Cuban Brothers & Roy (THE VIBE) Ayers.
They have been honoured enough to be joined live at times by The Bee's all rounder and trumpeteer Tim Parkin & also Hev McCallum of NME endorsed IW band Hugo Frusslinky gracing the band with flute. Mike Holdcroft & Denzel have also bolstered the ever growing, inter-changing brass section.
Shaking hands with The Beastie Boys, Getting Soul 2 Soul to play the island, a chancer invited onstage with soul queen Jhelisa Anderson aswell as their first London gig are the other highlights that have come the guys way.
Now the album is coming together, The Chancers are approaching the next phase. Their only dream is to complete an album….What will follow or not, will follow or not...
Chances in life for people. Peace out.
Coming soon.....
