Game provided by: Myspace Games5 MicsOne of music's most endearing qualities is its ability to redeem Hip-hop artist 5 Mics exemplifies this like no other Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, 5 Mics experienced a childhood that most suburbanites have only seen on TV Living in a single parent home with his mother while his father was nowhere to be found, he and his siblings struggled in a crime-infested area The nature of his upbringing inspired him to start writing rhymes at a very young age, although his brothers often teased him about them Finding solace in his personal brand of rap, 5 Mics battled neighborhood emcees and often won But his successes didn’t keep him from committing crimes, and he was soon sent to juvenile hall After his release, 5 Mics once again took up with the gangs that aided in his incarceration Although he continued to hone his craft, and was working with an industry producer, 5 Mics ended up in jail at the age of 16 During his nine and a half years in prison, 5 Mics battled any emcee he could, and performed whenever and wherever there was an audience By the time he was out of jail, he had become more focused, had discovered Islam, and had found peace within himself This gave him the strength and courage to follow through with his lifetime dream of becoming a successful rap artist Finding inspiration in both his daughter and his love for music, 5 Mics got serious about the business and started to make a name for himself Since his release, 5 Mics has been written about in Source Magazine, has been featured on Shyheim’s album, and has worked with successful producer The Flu He has performed at many major industry events, including ‘The New Big East’ at Club Avalon, which has a compilation disc coming out 5 Mics is one of the featured artists on the CD At the moment, he is one of the New York winners of ‘Making the Next Hit with Li’l Wayne’ showcase The contest continues, and 5 Mics stands a very good chance to win.5micshas been featured in the new up&coming magazines,dvds such as drahma,scurry life,green lantern monster mash and many others. When asked to describe what is unique about his project, 5 Mics’ is refreshingly straightforward: “My life, my struggles - just me” That is the essence of 5 Mics Pulling through a difficult life and learning from bad decisions has made this artist the passionate lyricist that he is today He hopes to reach out to younger generations, and teach them from his own mistakes His own words describe him best: “Most of the rappers today are created in the studio But me… I’m everything you read about I am the streets” At a time when many hip-hop artists are obsessed with distancing themselves from their upbringing, his loyalty to the people and places he has known has made 5 Mics an artist to watch..........
