Timbo King born Timothy Drayton in Brooklyn N.Y. Born in the 70s where soul, disco and R&B played a major part in his life. Coming from a dysfunctional family raised in the Bushwick Brownsville section of Brooklyn Timbo had to choose growing up either hustling or going to school. Timbo decided to go to the school of hard knocks where he was forced to teach himself how to survive by running numbers for his grandfather & uncle. This was in the mid 80s when the Crack epidemic was hitting the hood hard. Timbo was a street cat who indulged in activities such as boostin, digging pockets, throwing garbage cans inside jewelry store windows and any other street hustle shit you can think of.
Then just like any person in the streets, the criminal justice system caught up with him. Timbo was facing 5 years in prison in 1993. During that time Timbo was signed to Uptown Records with Andre Harrell and Sean P Diddy Combs. Uptown Records paid for an attorney to lower the charges from robbery A to robbery B as a youth offender. Timbo King took the oppurtunity he was given and dropped a song on the "Whos the man" soundtrack that got rave reviews. His next move was with street live records that was distributed by RCA.
Timbo King released an EP called "United we slam". Selling 75,000 units underground Timbo landed an artist production deal that started his black castle legacy Royal Fam. "Sumtin Gots to give" a street and industry shakedown automatically earns Timbo his spot in hip-hop. Unfortunately Timbo King and Capital Records management had a full out war that left Timbo King black balled. And he was forced to go underground.
Im from the streets and I didnt care, ima sell and get my music across regardless." After coming off the "Show" tour with Def Jam, Timbo King declared a relationship with Wu-Tangs producer RZA through Poppa Wu, Freedom Allah and the next move was to Wu-Tang Records. "I felt comfortable with RZA he knew my situation and RZA gave me a budget to put out my music"... From the reign of 1995 2000 Timbo appeared on every A artist from WU-Tangs soundtracks to compilations to keep his name alive in the retail stores. After releasing "Yesterday, today iz tomorrow" on WU-Tangs PIAS bootleg version only sold in Sweden, Holland, Germany & France. Now on his own label Fort Knox Records as of 2004. After putting out a single called Armored Truck feturing Masta Killah through "Nature sounds" Timbo once again appears on every other album released through nature sounds.
Timbo King is a legend in the underground rap game. From winning a Grammy award with the French group "I AM" to appearing in movies like "Soul in the hole" and Ghostdog Timbo King is considered an underground king. Now in the present day with website launchings and label artists such as Young Brooklyn, D-Wize and 56 Platoon, Timbo King is a business man. "It's just a matter of time till the world will feel my wrath and the coming of my presence for real".
