She considers herself Nomadic.All her life she grew up alone and moving from state to state. By the time she graduated high school, she had already been to 17 different schools in 6 different states.Whether it was journals, short stories or poems, writing has always been a passion of hers in order to occupy her time.Blak Guhl has always been involved in the performing arts since the age of 5; however it was simply to fill the void of loneliness rather than for pure fun. Later she would find out all her training wasn't in vain. Blak Guhl graduated from high school in 2000 and attended the University of Kentucky for two years before deciding college wasn't where she needed to be. In the Fall of 2005, while working as a meat packer, Blak Guhl started feeling the beat of music run through her veins, which compelled her to write. Two weeks later, her first album was lyrically completed. The album is a collection of 12 songs that are a true reflection of a 5 year period in her life and the trials and tribulations she went through in order to find out who she was as a young woman. Blak Guhl's style of music reflects the eclectic musical influences that she has ranging from God Ausar,Bessie Smith, Earth Wind & Fire,Erykah Badu, Bob Marley, Louis Armstrong,Snoop Dogg to Shine, Miles Davis to Ghetto Skillz just to name a few. Like her influences, she too is eclectic in the sense that she doesn't like to be place in an one dimensional box. She's intelligent, up to heaven, universe travelled, college educated, gansta, and hood all in one. Blak Guhl is going to give the world something they have never seen before. "I want to invoke in the minds of the youth, there is more to life than what they see on television and bring the truth back into the music." Blak Guhl doesn't want to be a Rhythm and Blues singer but rather a Rhythm and Soul singer. She is going to bring GLOBAL AWARENESS of who BLAK GUHL is as an artist. Still at the ground level of her career, Blak Guhl is currently in the production stages of her album slated to be released in the Fall of 2008 and she alreadly has a DVD that contains footage of her and the life she lived.Blak Gahl Inc.
