Last year the 1st Caribbean Ninja Summit was dedicated to O' Sensei Dr. Carlos Febres.
The founder and chief instructor of Nindo Ryu Bujutsu Kai is O'Sensei Carlos R. Febres. A native of Puerto Rico, O'Sensei Febres possesses a Bachelor's degree in History and Education, and a Masters degree in Criminology, Bachelor of Science in Integrated Medicine and a Medical degree in Oriental Medicine. Master Febres is certified as a Police Officer and Correctional Officer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and a Juvenile Justice Probation Officer in the state of Florida. He is also a member of the American Criminology Association, American Correctional Association and the Police Tactics Instructors of America and the Oriental Medical Association. O'Sensei Febres did his Oriental Medicine internship at the Conmaul Oriental Medicine Hospital in Seoul, Korea.
O'Sensei Febres began his career in the martial arts at the age of twelve. He studied Okinawan Te, as well as Yoshu Kai and Yoshu Ryu under Sensei Bill Solano and Okinawan Kobudo under Kimo Wall as well as Sanuces Ryu Jujutsu under Profesor Moses Powell. In 1987 he attended the second World Ninja Summit in Ohio where he trained with masters such as Tetsuya Higuchi and Shoto Tanemura. At that time he joined the Bujinkan Fellowship International, and was awarded Study Group Status for his Dojos in Puerto Rico.
In 1988, he attended the third Annual World Ninja Summit, where he performed an official demonstration of the techniques of Nindo Ryu. He continued his study of Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu (as it was called at that time), and moved to the United States in September of that year. He established the first Nindo Ryu Dojo in the continental US in November 1988. At that time he was comparing and exchanging information in his system Sensei Hector Rodriguez (Circle of the Samurai Ninpo Jutsu) in New York. In the spring of 1989, O'Sensei Febres traveled to Ohio to continue training with Higuchi in Togakure Ryu as well as Higuchi's other arts: Iaido/Iaijutsu, Kenjutsu/Kendo, and Taiho Jutsu. He also attended the fourth Annual World Ninja Summit in July of that year, in witch he was invited to participate as a member of the staff at the event. At that time he was offered the chance to test for rank in Togakure Ryu, but declined the opportunity. He maintained communication with Higuchi Sensei, but for all practical purposes, he focused on perpetuating Nindo Ryu. He established the second US Nindo Ryu Dojo that same year. In years to follow, O'Sensei Febres continued to train and achieve rank in various KoRyu (old style) as well as Gendai (modern) martial arts such as: Goshin Ryu Aikijujutsu (Kancho Shihan Jack Herman), Kodai no Seishin Ryu Iaijutsu (Sensei Oscar Alicea), Shorin Ryu & Yoshu Ryu Karate (Hanshi Bill Solano), USA Goju (Grandmaster Peter Urban), Circle of the Samurai Ninpo Jutsu (Sensei Hector Rodriguez), Shao Choy Hung Kung Fu Chin Na (Grandmaster Robert Smith), Genbukan Ninpo Goshin Jutsu (Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura), Ryuseiken Batto Jutsu (Saruta Sensei), Koga Ryu Ninjutsu (O'Sensei Ronald Duncan), Nagashimatsu-Te Aiki Jujutsu & Combat Aikido ( Soke Jorge Garcia). O'Sensei Febres is also the youngest 10th Dan ever to be acknowleged by Grandmaster Peter Urban. His abilities have been recognized by federations such as: USA Goju, Goshindo Kenpo & Samurai Jujutsu Association, United Budokai Federation, Bujinkan Fellowship International, Goshinjutsu International Martial Arts Association, International Federation of Jujutsuans, Black Dragon Fighting Society, World Karate Federation, World Martial Arts Hall of Fame, the International Batto-Do Shizan Association and the International Combat Aikido & Jujitsu Federation. O'Sensei currently practices Oriental & Homeopathic Medicine and teaches martial arts in Florida.

Soke Carlos Esquilin - Rokudaijitsu Ninpo

Dr. Carlos R. Esquilin is the Soke (Founder) of the Rokudai-Jitsu Ninpo ("The Sixth Generation Technique of the Way of Enlightment"), holds the rank of 10th Dan, and many other high rankings. He started in the Martial Arts in 1971, in Puerto Rico. He joined one of the first Karate organizations in Puerto Rico under Victor Moyett "Barrabas". In the year 1976 received the rank of Shodan. For the year 1981 he became a top leader for the black belts; his teacher was suffering from an illness and let him as "Successor Inheriting the Art" and received in 1984 the rank of 6th Dan. Many styles were incorporated, moving the growth of the art to the traditional and orthodox systems (Shorin Ryu Kenpo, Kobudo, Iaido, Kenjutsu, Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu, Aikido and Koga Ryu Ninjutsu were incorporated in the curriculum of training and certification. Traveling experience and contact with great masters in USA and Japan like Kisshumaru Ueshiba, Moriteru Ueshiba, Haruo Kobayashi, Shogen Okobayashi, Takeshi Kawabe, Haruo Ishikagy, Fumio Toyoda, Yoshimitsu Yamada, George Alexander, Bruce Heillman, Jacomo Spartacco Bartoletti, Robert Clark, Ronald Duncan, Michael DePasquale Sr., Michael DePasquale Jr., Wally Jay, Felix Vazquez, Glenn Prenrum, Graham Lewis, Larry Reynosa and Steven Segal, are some of the teacher who made influence in his technique and his Bushido. Two times recognized by the World Head of Family Sokeship Council International Hall of Fame, by the Latin American Martial Arts Hall of Fame, and others. Presentations in TV programs in PR, news papers, magazines like €œKarate International (USA) and €œSamurai Deportivo€? (in Italy), and books, make him one of the most prestigious and respected Latin American Grandmasters. Recognized as a 10th Soke €œFounder€? of the art of Rokudai-Jitsu Ninpo by Dr. Phillip S. Porter in USA and the Martial Arts International in Germany and a PhD Degree by the International University of Martial Arts Science. Soke Carlos R. Esquilin is the only one Aikido and Aikijujutsu instructor in Puerto Rico who trained directly with Kisshumaru Ueshiba (Aikido Founder€™s son) and Moriteru Ueshiba (Aikido Founder€™s grandson) in Tokyo Japan for the year 1996. He also trained in Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu with students from the Takeda family of Japan.
His Dojo is located in Juncos Puerto Rico (USA). His strong regulations and protocols of training make his Dojo very respected by his powerful techniques. His philosophy of living and train for a real battle work every day in his teachings. The last 5 years he dedicated his teachings to the USA Military Special Forces officials and Special Operations Agents.

Shihan Angel Jimenez - Tenshi Ryu Budo Kenkyukai
Tenshi Ryu Budo Kenkyu-Kai es un estilo creado por Sensei Angel Jimenez Ayuso. Este tipo de arte fue evolucionado de las artes antiguas y originales que el Sensei Jimenez Ayuso aprendió durante sus estudios en el estilo de Nindo Ryu ninjutsu. Desbiandose de la evolución del Nindo Ryu que hoy conocemos el estílo de Tenshi Ryu, sin embargo mantuvo los principios originales de sus estudios basicos y se concentró en la investigación fílosofica y practica del Budo Japonés. Es por esto que las formas desarrolladas tiene una tendencia a no ser parecidas en nada a las de la organización anterior. Al no ser un arte de Japón antiguo, ni originada allí, Tenshi Ryu se considera una organización occidental que basicamente basa sus inspiraciones y mantiene un gran respeto a la fílosofia japonesa antigua y moderna. Es por esto que se definen como un grupo de investigación ( Kenkyu-kai) del budo en esa nación.
Atravéz de un largo tiempo de ausencia, el se dedicó al estudio filosófico de las artes en busca de una respuesta pacífica al combate que ocurre en el competitivo ambiente de las artes marciales y de nuestra vida diaria. Sus investigaciónes lo llevan a descubrir que dentro de nuestro afán por llegar a hacer un rango muchos olvidamos que cada técnica, cada movimiento y cada cosa que decimos, escuchamos y aprendemos en nuestra práctica, tiene una enseñanza de paz y armonía con todo lo que nos rodea en especial con las personas; y que estas experiencias varían cada vez que comenzamos un día nuevo, es por esto que las prácticas y la educación en budo perduran por el resto de nuestras vidas y al igual se debe tratar como si fuera nuestro día a día. Jigoro Kano habló de esto, Funakoshi Gishin lo implanto en su vida y Morihei Ueshiba lo vivió y lo aplicó. Estos maestros y muchos otros han escrito sobre esto y han enfatizado en que debemos cambiar nuestra forma de vivir para un mejor mundo. Tenshi Ryu tiene la intención de formar parte de este cambio y contribuir al la sociedad atravéz de estos estudios. Shihan Angel Jimenez invita a todos aquellos practicantes a eliminar sus egos y tratar de asimilarse a un angel (Tenshi) de paz y amor con el universo.

Sensei Victor Enrique Suarez Muñoz - Koga Ryu Ninjutsu (Dux Ryu Ninjutsu)
Sensei Victor Enrique Suarez Munoz born in Mexico City march 13th 1978. Victor Suarez has been practicing the art of ninjutsu for about ten years under the teachings of Sensei Javier Barron who is a second generation student of Hanshi Frank W. Dux which makes sensei Victor Suarez the third in the direct line, he started to practice in Mexico city at the Cuautitlan Izacalli Dojo, since the beginning he demonstrated a lot of interest on developing the Art, making him a fierce Kenka Kumite fighter, during his trainee years he participated actively in local (mexico city) and nation wide (mexico) open martial arts tournament like the National Chinese Kempo open tournament and the Ninja coup tournament positioning himself in the first places every year for six years, he also dedicated a lot of time in jujitsu and hand to hand combat seminars, and every year assisted to the €œsurvival€? Camp at different locations around Mexico. He is a dedicated practitioner of the traditional ninja weapons. He teaches and practices from Monday to Thursday and Saturdays. Sensei Victor Suarez has a Master degree in business administration from the University of Hispano Mexicana and he is happily married.
Kaisho Shihan Rafael Nieves - Nieves Ryu Ninjutsu
Grand Master Soke Nieves (10thDan) is the founder of the Puerto Rico Ninja Society and the originator of Nieves-Ryu Ninjutsu. He has been practicing the Martial Arts for over 27 years was nominated to the International Jujitsu Hall of Fame as Master of Ninjutsu of the Year. He also holds black belt degrees in Jujitsu, Isshin-ryu, Shorinji Kempo, Ninpo Taijutsu, and Wing Chung. His his teaching philosophy is, "PEACE AND RESPECT FOR ALL PEOPLES AND THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WAY THROUGH THE MARTIAL ARTS.
