IN LONG:
With 6 recent tracks and remixes in the ARIA club chart, a new mix album (Upsized), tracks on various Ministry Of Sound CDs, his new label bambamMuzik, Tom Piper, might be a new name to some, but has been deeply seeded in the house music scene for many years now..
The late 90’s saw a young punk / raver embark on a journey that would encourage the transformation from punter to a future headlining DJ as he started playing back to back sets with rave veteran GeeWiz at some of Sydney’s biggest underground dance parties. Learning the art of moving the crowds with an airtight play list, Piper was able to leverage his love of music and ability to entertain via DJing and with his then band, Whippershnappers. Whilst making a name for himself around Sydney, playing at raves, local bars and clubs Piper went on to complete a Bachelor of Contemporary Music straight after high school and set about laying down the foundation of his production. He went on to meet and work with friend & top dance producer, Alex K, who aided in streamlining Piper’s production knowledge. The union between Alex and Piper was a solid one based in the heady days of the insanely popular Wild FM phenomenon. Collaborations on the production front for both Alex and Piper began under the name Plus 8 and saw their efforts appear on international compilations, countless vinyl releases and culminated with a European tour for Alex, with Piper joining as support act. This was the beginning of Tom Piper, then he started to get to work..
Merging his music and production skills with a long time friend Elroy, they began working on tunes, which has now seen them both achieve the launch of their joint record label bambamMuzik. Both Piper and Elroy, as a team, have created countless original and remix works as well many unmentionable white labels. They have written music for TV shows such as Big Brother and the ARIA Awards and maintained a 3 in the DJ Mag Beats & Breaks chart with a track they wrote with UK breaks artist Tayo. Piper & Elroy’s first single on bambamMuzik, Point n Clap, hit 2 in the ARIA Chart and has been played by the main Australian & International tastemakers.. it has been signed to labels in Italy, America, Germany and more..
Tommy Trash and Piper have unleashed the electro house bombs, Fuck To The Bass and One More.. signed to Hussle. Ministry Of Sound, they have both had chart success and have been included on compilations such as Big Tunes & Sessions 4, cr2 Live and Direct and many more. Fuck To The Bass has now also been signed to a European label for the international release and is set to do damage around the world.. follow ups are soon to come. G-Wizard and DJ Eko are Piper’s crew on the urban music front, they work at Emerald City, Piper’s second studio home apart from the bambam HQ. Together they are battleSTAR and have already seen releases and engineering credits through the Superclub CD Series, with both CDs going gold. All these projects and Piper’s new group with Matt Nukewood, KNO1NOSE are making big noise and keeping Piper’s finger on the ever changing pulse of the music business.
Piper’s musical versatility is amazing and comes from thorough knowledge and love for what he does. Piper’s exclusive remixes, bootlegs and originals alongside his picks of the crop from other artist ensure a unique experience each time he performs. With “energetic†as an understatement, seamless mixing, unique track selection, samples, cuts, DJ tricks and endless onstage antics Piper’s Live & DJ Sets have opened the doors, nearly ALL the doors, in the A-list of Sydney’s clubbing. Piper can be seen doing solo sets, and performing with Elroy as bambamMuzik all over Sydney and at guest spots around Australia.
