Wayne Fabian aka Dj Tekkaman's love affair with music began at an early age, surrounded by the hip hop culture, he learnt to beatbox, play the drums and guitar as a youngster. Music and performance was also a big part of his family life, being Filipino. His parents always encouraged his artistic and musical interest. Through his teen years he played in several different bands ranging from reggae, latin, punk, ska, alternative rock, funk, grunge and gospel which resulted in his very eclectic taste in music.
It wasn't until the age of 17 he got his first taste of the turntables. His brother had gone through the "I wanna be a dj" phase and bought some cheap turntables and a mixer, which he abandoned after about 2 months, leaving his record collection and equipment to his younger brother.
Wayne quickly fell in love with the turntables, realizing it was based on the same musical principles as the drums. He began learning the art of turntablism over the next few years. Taught by close friend and club legend Mike Hernandez aka Dj Who, he rapidly mastered his scratching, juggling and mixing techniques, refining his craft at house party's and local gigs.
Adopting the name Tekkaman in 2004 derived from his favourite anime robot, he released his first mixtape "Tekkaman version 1.0" which was an instant hit and sold many copies. In 2005 he released his second mixtape "Tha Turntable Massacre Vol.1: WARNING listen with caution" which was also an instant hit and led to several club residencies and guest spots.
Fast forward to 2008, Dj Tekkaman is now the official stage dj for Aussie diva Neska and hip hop sensation Cleva Fam, holds several residnecies such as 411@pumphouse, Sublime@Home, Soultrain@Hunter bar, Chocolate City@UN and Pure Vogue@industrie bar just to name a few not to mention all the the guest spots. Some other major achievements of his career include being part of the main support act for the Bobby Brown concert, being Lil Jon’s backing dj at his concert in 2007 and recieving shout outs and support from heavy weights, Rick Ross, Lil Jon and Gym Class Heroes.
