Smile on Impact: Some say his parents were sea monsters, although that has little relevance to his name. 25 year old Melbourne producer Arlo Picasso has been creating and recording music, since the invention of electricity, in 1997. At this time, he was 14 and barely out of diapers. He began, by constructing primitive guitars from gourds and turtle shells, when this proved useless, he switched to a Pentium 100 and the freeware DOS program Fasttracker2. As technology progressed, so did our protagonist. However his initial passion for sampling from VHS, Vinyl (and anything he could get his hands on) remained unbreakable. In 2006, after a long stint as a cucumber Arlo’s passion for production lead him back to electronic music. He then formed Smile on Impact and has since played alongside, some of the biggest names in the scene, such as Miles Dyson, DJ Hyper, Deekline and Wizard. He is a regular at Lounge, Brown Alley, La di da and most of Melbourne’s bigger venues. ‘Wisdom Teeth’ will be Smile on Impact’s forth release this year, after Where’s My Dollar?, The Death of Vinyl (album) and I Found Your Mum in the $2 Bin. This track is an awesome meeting of the minds. Smile on Impact combines with Melbourne roots trio “The April Maze” and converts a humble, heartfelt folk song into an electro-rave anthem. The soulful voice of singer Sivan and the epic chorus makes this the kind of track DJs wait for. The Remixes from Nick Galea and Danny Bonnici are simply stunning. Bringing a more open and minimal element to this lush vocal driven house track. If you believe in underground music ‘Wisdom Teeth’ will be no surprise. A mighty club track, with the potential to cement Smile on Impact as one of Australia’s most exciting new producers.
