Meet Vandal...
As a lyricist he chefs up a unique blend of wittiness, dark humor, playful themes, and deep introspection. Combined with his utter disdain for subpar music, Vandal packs a powerful punch. "I love beatin rappers up," he proclaims proudly, "It's a good feeling to step into a room of 10 emcees and know that at least 9 of them ain't seein me."
As a self-made producer, he incorporates a unique array of samples and hard-hitting drums to underscore his intricate rhymes patterns. "It's a good combination," he says, "I don't stray too far from what works which me makin the beats. But at the end of the day if I need a different sound, I hit the crew up. They understand what works for me as an artist but at the same time they know how to push me creatively. When it's all put together there's a lot of sounds I can choose from."
When discussing his upcoming LP "Desperate Measures" Vandal lights up, "It's really a great piece of work. I think people will find the dichotomy interesting. There's club joints then the boom bap. Songs where I'm romanctic others where I'm rude and crass. Joints where I'm peaceful and joints where I'm agressive. Amped or depressed. The interesting thing about it is that nothin is forced. Each song is a reflection of me and my thought patterns and experiences. I think everyone will find somethin on the record they can get into."
Desperate Measures is slated for release in Fall 2008.
