I'd like to meet:
Sade (pronouced Shar-day for all you suckas out there). When I first saw her, I was a teenager watching an MTV video entitled "Sweetest Taboo" one late night. I was completely mesmerized. Since then I haven't overcomed my crush on her.
Yasmin Levy. Her voice is so powerful, and her song is like a Siren's call.
Prince. A legend in his own right. I'd love to learn all there is about music from him!
Lauryn Hill (pre-crazy era). I hope that one day she'll make a come back and make us love her music like we once did. Come back please!
The Roots. One of the true bands in Rap music today. In fact, they are the only mainstream band in Rap today, and what really intrigues me is that they do more than just Rap. Their music has hints of Rock, Jazz, & Blues. These guys are true musicians; a rare commodity today, especially in Rap music.
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth. These were the guys that solitified my absolute love for the hip hop culture and rap music. I don't know why they stopped making music, but they sure need to come back very soon. C'mon, you know y'all need them too? Mecca and the Soul Brother? The Main Ingredient? Do I need to say more?
Common. Nothing but respect for this guy. Plus, he hasn't forgotten the city. "I used to love H.E.R." is the joint.
The 300 Spartans. Against all odds and against the will of their own government, 300 soldiers of Sparta fought to the death against the vast Persian empire who threatened their country with slavery, refusing to bow to tyranny. AHOOO, AHOOOO, AHOOOOOOO!!! WARNING: Video is highly violent.
The Fania All-Stars. I wish I was old enough to have seen these talented giants in their prime, especially when they played "El Raton" during the Rumble in the Jungle concert in Africa and "Congo Bongo" during their legendary concert at Yankee Stadium in '73.
Melle Mel. He's a living legend. One of the members of the Furious Five, fools!! Kool Moe Dee labeled him the #1 greatest rapper of all time. Of all time! Learn from the Grandmaster himself.
