Samantha ‘Nynewest’ Law was born on March 10, 1986 in Darlington, South Carolina, but spent many of her earlier years living in Brooklyn, NY with her mother, as well. To help cope with her unsteady home life, she turned to music and spent most of her time entertaining relatives with song and dance. Finally at the age of five, Nynewest and her mother settled in Worcester, Massachusetts. Her interest in music remained, but it was not until she turned 13 that she took it seriously.
With her mother by her side, Nynewest began to write songs, but due to her mother’s limited knowledge of the music industry, they sought outside producers for help. At first, the road was unsteady, but this changed when Nynewest entered her high school talent show, where she won first place for ‘Best Solo Act.’ From then on, no one could keep this budding entertainer off the stage or out of the spotlight.
Nynewest’s daring lyrics and savvy attitude creates a unique blend of music that separates her from other mainstream female artists. On her quest to becoming a rapper, she has been traveling the U.S creating major buzz, performing on the musical-rich streets of New York City to the Hollywood streets of L.A. Nynewest is a talented young woman who is not afraid to take risks in her career, as she did at the 2006 BET awards show when she snuck backstage to get her music heard.
In 2005 Nynewest released "Go Figga," a female response record to Kanye West’s 'â€Gold Digger,†which got heavy airplay on major radio stations around the country. With her first single, "Move & Grab," Nynewest is continuing to impact the music scene. She has opened for 50 Cent, Sean Paul, Ne-Yo, Paul Wall, Cassidy, G-Unit, Bizzy Bone, and Bubba Sparxx. She has also performed at several nightclubs and universities around the country.
Nynewest is truly a shining star. With her bold lyrics and sultry confidence, she will definitely be Hip Hop’s ‘Next Big Thing.’
