Jonathan Ramsey

Folky, Irish, Explosive Experience!

About Me

Jonathan Ramsey, with his "altarboy look and edgy choirboy tenor voice", stirs up brash protest and drinking songs with sweet ballads. The result is a mix of Irish traditional, modern, and original folk. His musical background and strangely big, percussive sound allow for organic trips into rock and pop. Jonathan's newest recording, "Live at Cruisin' Route 66", showcases the broad dynamics of his on-stage sound, including his trademark songs of love, rebellion, murder, and the compulsory smattering of "happy songs about death".

Raised both on the New Jersey shore and in land-locked Missouri, Jonathan is neither a rock musician working at Irish music, nor a folk singer struggling to cross over. He's purely a product of being Irish and American in a modern world.

Jonathan delivers a wild, one-man show full of attitude-filled Irish songs. He's almost half Christy Moore stirred into a cup of David Bowie.
