About Me

From Ireland, I'm an artist who blogs in Ireland about being an artist in Ireland and also about Irish events Kansas City where I lived for almost 10 years and where I started IrishKC.

Paintings

So I paint, and you can see some my paintings in My Pics .
And on Irish KC I frequently offer some of my paintings of Ireland at seriously reduced prices (No messin')
And I do paint abstract stuff too, and stuff not necessarily Irish.

The Blog: Irish KC

I am responsible for the Kansas City based events-centered humour blog called Irish KC .
It's a personal blog that centers around the experience of being from Ireland while living in the Midwest of America. So differences, misperceptions, nostalgia all get thrown up - and flushed down the jax.
But I also blog and promote anything remotely Irish in KC and the Midwest (and sometimes all over the US, and heck sometimes in Ireland too) - though not necessarily everything that's Irish; I do have my limits.
And because I was an ex-Pat, sometimes things I determine of interest to Irish people are actually English, or Australian, or Italian, or Scottish, or well, from the world I left behind that doesn't tend to feature in the US very much.

Irish KC Listings

Events listed on Irish KC tend to be mostly musical (and mostly Irish at that), though cinema, theatre, literary, cultural, social, sporting, animal, and anything that has an element of Irish anything about it is game.
Bearing in mind that I am Irish, that means anything I've done in Kansas City is effectively of Irish interest, like for example watching a Native American Flute player.

Calendar of Irish Events in KC

Column in Print

I write a column called Celtic Comment in the Midwest Irish Focus, a monthly paper for 10 US States. They can be reviews, interviews, or nonsense - like these examples:
> Interview with Damien Dempsey about To Hell or Barbados
> Solving The World’s Problems With Milk and Onions
> Cathie Ryan in Concert: A Review
> Film Review: What Means Motley?

American Hell

I also author the cartoon/drawing site called American Hell - and no it's not an anti-American site, at least not as far as I can tell, and I write the thing. Here's an example, #35 Seymour Ignored Her:
I keep a list of the most popular cartoons

Bio Links

If you want to know more about me you can have a read of a list of 101 Random Things About Me .Or if you're not quite that mad you could just look at why I might have decided to create a site about being Irish in Kansas City - the Irish KC background stuff .
And there's a more personal slant on the bio in how I came to create a site based on drawing in the background to American Hell

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 , so I did.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Well I don't actually want to meet anybody, thanks - I'm full right now.

In the MySpace sense though, I'm very happy to be friends with anybody connected with Kansas City or Ireland who creates stuff, be it contemporary or traditional, visual or aural, electric or acoustic, moving or still, vague or obvious.
