Denise Jolly

in short

About Me

Denise Jolly is a writer, performer, community builder, educator, student, baby whisperer, toilet scrubber, and a social butterfly that sometimes likes to watch. She is co-host and facilitator of the Seattle Poetry Slam and Poetry Curator for The Round. Denise spends her time performing poetry, facilitating workshops for youth and adults, and building large-scale art instillations with members of Stronghold Productions. She likes doing great things with amazing people and being moved by art, community and how the two can work together.“Denise’s work has been known to cause spontaneous eruptions of tears as well as riotous laughter. Do not be afraid, it will only hurt in the right way.” Daemond Arrindell“Denise does not try to preach to us, impress us or command us. Herwork is infinitely more valuable because it offers us that rarest of sustaining forces: honesty. Unlike so many poets, she does not imply that she is fearless – only that she is moving, courageously, against those fears. That is how she inspires us to do the same in our own lives.” Ryler Dustin
