Shira Erlichman

About Me

Poet, musician, and artist Shira Erlichman has been called “one of the most original and compelling voices in slam.” In 2007, she received the honor of being nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her work has been featured in The Massachusetts Review as well as on Borders Bookstore’s website, reaching over 23 million viewers. Her music will be featured in two forthcoming independent films. She is a proud member of the Whitehaus Family Record, co-founder of the thrill-quest The Bright Hearts Brigade, as well as the wildly heartening Tiny Tornadoes. In 2009, she toured the US with The Spilljoy Ensemble to standing ovations and homemade brownies. Shira has been showcased on the finals stage at both College Nationals (2005) and Adult Nationals (2007) and is “positively one of the most distinctive and gifted writers to take the slam stage.” She can’t stop dancing. She is small, she is powerful. She is big, she is vulnerable. She has published two chapbooks, one independently and another with Destructible Heart Press. She only stops dancing to sing. Favorite sounds include: symphonies, walking in the woods, pianos in small rooms, friends laughing, and gritty 60s girl-group mixtapes. Myspace Backgrounds
