Sam - Music Supervisor - CEO - Excellence Records

..EXCELLENCE RECORDS ..

About Me

Well, this is me. I’m a 24 year old from Wimbledon. I love music and particularly enjoy travelling the world meeting interesting people and sharing stories and memories with people from all walks of life. I consider myself as a celebrity socialite; most of my good friends are celeb status. I’m not a binge drinker but I love to dance, after just one glass of red wine you’ll find my two left feet up on that dance floor ;) Of course I do love Cinema and LOVE theatre, an old romantic at heart, love romantic comedies hate horrors!! I have the most amazing family and friends in Montreal Canada, Sydney/Gold Coast/Brisbane Australia England Europe and USA whom are all so special to me and I love dearly. I’m at times pretty crazy and fun loving. I enjoy a good laugh and believe me it doesn’t take much to get me into fits of giggles!! As a teen I had deams of a modeling career and taking my singing to the next level but somehow ended up mentoring and managing unsigned acts along the route. It has been a long and hard 8 years so far after having to battle my way through the independent music scene to prove I am worthy of the industry. I have had the privilege of working with the most incredible and inspirational personnel who have not only inspired me to build on my own independent record label ie Excellence Records but to become the person I am today. Talksport presenter Mike Mendoza is such a wonderful and kind man and I’m blessed to have his support and for him to have given me the unique opportunity to both promote my acts and my label through his weekend show on Talksport Radio, where many chart entries and major label signings have culminated from radio airplay. Also my dear friend Jonnie Hurn screen writer and producer for ‘Do Elephants Pray’ for appointing me as the ‘Music Supervisor’ and of course the very talented film director Paul Hills for agreeing with Jon, although he secretly loves to hate me. Lol
I have to say I’m incredibly proud of all my acts who have worked extremely hard over the years. You rock!!

BIOGRAPHYSamantha Jayne Crompton was born in a British Military Hospital in Münster, Germany on the 21st July 1984. Her Father John Edward Crompton was born in Warrington, Lancashire England and Mother Susan was born in Swindon, Wiltshire England were living in Osnabrück, West Germany.. John also took part as a drummer in the famous BBC Edinburgh Tattoo. Inspired by her Fathers musical talents, she embarked on her own Musical journey. From the age of 11, Sam started singing lessons with local tutors and joined a choir at her school. In 1997 her Family returned to England, where they resided in Kingston Upon Hull, East Yorkshire. By the age of 15 her parents divorced and her family devided. Sam then studied Business, IT, A levels & European languages at Hull College her singing and songwriting days was slowly but surely coming to an end as she then began promoting up and coming musicians Sam found by developing other Musicians and encouraging those with a gift more rewarding.
In 2001 a serious passion for music promotion had developed and it was decided after many months of business advice with Kevin O'Conner from HABAC to initiate The Talent League LTD, it was an organisation which gave advice and support to budding musicians. November 2001 Sam arranged a documentary for the local music scene in Hull, in which Solo artist Andy Stocks vocalist of the recently formed New York based Folk/Harmony Sundown took part. Andy was also involved in Song For The City a song written by former House Martin and Beautiful South songwriter Mike Greaves, namely The Bridge which was produced and recorded at Fairview Recording Studio. In 2002 Sam began to send her acts to the New York Music Festival including LA & Las Vegas each of them returning as winners of their individual category and genre. During this time she collaborated with top hull based solo artist & songwriter Mike Rogers, to raise funds for the NHS, the debut single "Life Factory" was performed at Kingston Communications Stadium to an audience of almost 14,000 and was for sale in all major outlets. Unfortunately due to the lack of Governmental funding and share holders, it was then decided to dissolve The Talent League as a Limited company, however the two remaining directors amalgamated the business on a 80% voluntary basis, offering affordable annual memberships for the unsigned.
Over the years, Samantha became an established Music Promoter and A&R advisor to Excellence Records after moving to London in 2003 and began developing a unique and powerful artist roster of talented musicians and well known writers. February 2007 saw Sam working as a co-presenter & promoter for the unsigned on The Mike Mendoza Show on Talksport Radio 1089/1053 AM. In which Sam introduced Canadian Alternative Rock band Your Favorite Enemies to the show, www.myspace.com/yourfavoriteenemies they also won "The Next Big Thing" with over 7,000 votes the largest number of votes for an unsigned band, which was hosted by established music producer David Courtney, who has worked with the likes of Leo Sayer & Paul McCartney among Your Favorite Enemies were Mesh-29 a razor edge acoustic band from Peterborough who became a featured band on The Mike Mendoza Show before reaching the UK top 40 Singles Chart in July with their debut Single "Over The Barricade" at position 35 and number 22 in the Independent Music Chart. www.mesh29.com
In September Sam was approached by co-worker, Talksport Engineer, Screenwriter and Producer Jon Hurn to assist as Music Supervisor to a magical feature film about rebirth written by Jon namely "Do Elephants Pray?" directed by Paul Hills, which will be released into the Cinema in 2008. www.elephantfeatures.com
Sam was recently awarded a PHD in Music Media and Management and she is currently Managing Sunderland based singer songwriter "Leanne Lawson" www.myspace.com/iamleannelawson and assisting as promotions manager for Australian acoustic band "August Way". www.myspace.com/augustway
Over the coming months Sam will be returning to Talksport Radio alongside legendary Presenter Mike Mendoza. www.talksport.net
Sam's philosophy is keep going, just believe in yourself and a result is inevitable.

REVIEWS:
MESH-29 Thanks for the invite, we'd definitely love to come on again some time but don't feel like you owe us anything because that was the best promo we've ever had I reckon! Adam x
"Life Factory" was for sale in all major music outlets and was performed at a promotional gig at the new KC Super Stadium in Hull, UK. Mike Rogers was the first to play the stadium (not Elton John as records may state) to an audience of 14,000. This successful event was arranged by Sam Crompton of TTL (Top Independent Promotions Company & Label based in London, UK).
"Sam has given us more than an opportunity to have an impact on the UK radio through many interviews and exposure but she made the whole experience so easy and made us feel really so comfortable... That makes such a difference... it's the difference between the basic professional collaboration and a real complicity...Sam's passion for music and dedication to build relationships towards the respect of artists needs and vision allowed us to find not only a great business consultant, but an amazing asset for the band."- Alex Foster, Your Favorite Enemies
