3 childhood friends…disillusioned with the Irish countryside…get one-way ferry ticket to the big smoke of Londonium…holing themselves up in red brick east London bed-sit...what will become of them? mass adulation? deportation? available for children’s parties…
Singing joyful songs about transvestitism, incest and murder and with delusions of arena rock grandeur in their heads, Class of 1984 were born when they opened for the irrepressible Robert Plant in the summer of 2006. That night, an unsuspecting crowd was witness to Class Of 1984’s primo brand of skuzzy rock cutting through the haze of a smoke and hippie filled sweaty arena.
After this first taste of rock stardom and near pathological abandon they set about opening their collective trench coat to the masses. They were voted best upcoming band from two national radio stations and listed in Chris Moyle’s best top ten unsigned UK bands.
With a shared interest in George Orwell, cheap exploitation cinema and Southern Gothic literature, the three friends that make up Class of 1984 are currently gigging, demoing, drinking...all the ing words…except working.
