About Me

brI grew up in Fortwilliam. Having an Irish dad, and an extremely west coast mum, meant I was predestined to have a Celtic edge to my music. Also having two brothers and sisters, who sang, meant I had to join in. It was like the west coast Von Trapps, only not as cheesy. I started playing the pipes when I was 10. (Why oh I why I didn't pick a graceful instrument like the fiddle or clarsach).......... After playing in Lochaber Junior pipe band for years, until I was so old, they chucked me out- I left Fortwilliam to go to the Glasgow metropolis, and study at The School of Art (I wasnae very good, but I got my degree) ...I discovered folk music in 3rd year, and started to play with other musicians. Several bands later, I was invited to join Iron Horse. 12 years, 6 albums and countless tours in 4 continents later, I decided I needed a little more variety. We retired Iron Horse and I went solo. I fulfilled an ambition by developing an acting career- (why oh why I never thought of that earlier)....and now I combine acting and music with teaching, music therapy and a general winging my way through life. And I wouldn't have it any other way...So there you have it.
