Bumming Around Boracay Guide
Hello, Welcome to my MySpace. I have a variety of unique friends; some are here for fun, while others are here for a cause. You may not agree with all their opinions, just as I may not agree with all parts of the opinions. However, I do feel it is important to listen to all sides of an issue to encourage critical thinking. Please try to have an empathetic ear and look for what one may be trying to say. Feel free to voice your opinion in a nonthreatening manner.
I'd like to meet:
A Reason to Vote
"It is difficult for the common good to prevail against the intense concentration of those who have a special interest, especially if the decisions are made behind locked doors"...Jimmy Carter
"If you can, help others; if you cannot do that, at least do not harm them."
"If you have a particular faith or religion, that is good. But you can survive without it."
"This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness"
“I do not think there is any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success... Such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything.†Nikola Tesla
"Ignorance has always been the weapon of tyrants; enlightenment the salvation of the free."
"We have weapons of mass destruction we have to address here at home. Poverty is a weapon of mass destruction. Homelessness is a weapon of mass destruction. Unemployment is a weapon of mass destruction."
"There is hope in dreams, imagination, and in the courage of those who wish to make those dreams a reality." Jonas Salk
"I like the tasty waves. PEACE!!!" The Surfing Dog
"A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine." Thomas Jefferson
"If I only had a brain." The Scarecrow~Probably a high ranking official in the Bush administration.
"Suppose there is something which a person cannot understand. He happens to notice the similarity of this something to some other thing which he understands quite well. By comparing them he may come to understand the thing which he could not understand up to that moment. If his understanding turns out to be appropriate and nobody else has ever come to such an understanding, he can claim that his thinking was really creative."
"Those who explore an unknown world are travelers without a map; the map is the result of exploration. The position of their destination is not known to them, and the direct path that leads to it is not yet made." Hideki Yukawa
“We build too many walls and not enough bridges.†Isaac Newton
"Not a few other very eminent and scholarly men made the same request, urging that I should no longer through fear refuse to give out my work for the common benefit of students of Mathematics." Nicolaus Copernicus
VANISHING IN THE WILD: PHILIPPINE EAGLE
The Philippine Eagle' (Pithecophaga jefferyi) is one of the tallest, rarest, largest and most powerful birds in the world. This bird of prey, or raptor, belongs to the family Accipitridae. It is also known as "Haribon" or "Haring Ibon," meaning "Bird King." Its local name is banog[1].*****
The Philippine monkey-eating eagle is well named for its preference for eating monkeys, particularly macaques. This ferocious-looking bird stands over 3 feet (1 m) tall and can weigh up to 9 pounds (4 kg) -- larger than a golden eagle. Bluish eyes, a large, sharp, curved beak, and a warlike headdress of spiky feathers, give the Philippine eagle a striking appearance.
*******
First described in 1894 in the Philippines, the total wild population of the Philippine eagle is now estimated to be under 200. Once found in thick, mountainous forests on most of the larger Philippine islands, the eagle has been extirpated from several islands just in the last 20 years (see also Spotlight on Island Biogeography).

********The illusion of freedom will continue as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. At the point where the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they will just take down the scenery, they will pull back the curtains, they will move the tables and chairs out of the way, and you will see the brick wall at the back of the theatre. Music:
the Damnit's ~~~From Columbus, Ohio~~~We love the Damnit's and our new neighbors love the Damnit's
The Ocean because the sound is sublime. Check out The Ocean's MySpace, probably a comment in my comments column. I listen to Tom's page all the time. As I become more computer savvy, maybe I will learn how to link the pic's and the websites, but for now you have to do a little work.
Emm Gryner writes great music and has the voice of an angel ~~~Even though she rarely comes South of the Canadian/US border. Probably just smart on her part
And of course the incomparable music genius of Tiny Tim

Television:
Mostly the news, but it is so full of shit that I have had to look elsewhere. I found this place on YouTube called the Real News. In the following clip they interview Chavez about him wanting FARC to surrender. They have a lot of unbiased primary resource news. If you don't already know of Real News, please take the time to check them out. Without this type of "real news" we are doomed to listen to Katie Couric and Tila Tequila. Nobody needs or wants that; it's just cruel.
What will real economic change look like?
"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the Prohibition law. For nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is closely connected with this." Albert Einstein
Swimming with The Whale Sharks of Donsol
This species, despite its enormous size, does not pose any significant danger to humans. It is a frequently cited example when educating the public about the popular misconceptions of all sharks as "man-eaters". They are actually quite gentle and can be playful with divers. There are unconfirmed reports of sharks lying still, upside down on the surface to allow divers to scrape parasites and other organisms from their bellies. Divers and snorkelers can swim with this giant fish without any risk apart from unintentionally being struck by the shark's large tail fin.
.....
The highest concentration of whale sharks to be found anywhere in the world is in the Philippines. From January to May, they congregate in the shallow coastal waters of Sorsogon province (at Donsol).

I don't drink alcohol or do drugs, not even marijuana... or at least until it's legal. However, I support the legalization of marijuana because I think the government and the taxpayers have more important things to be concerned with. Too many people have paid too big of price because of their preferences in relaxation substance. We need to eliminate petty, unpopular laws to encourage people to use common sense in governing themselves and their families. Legalizing a substance with many proven benefits seems like an easy, good place to start. Click the following picture to read.
Of course there are many other things I support: free, quality education; fewer simpler laws; smaller government; more parental control of family decisions; governmental accountability; etc. And while I support the basic idea of nonprofit organizations, I have to wonder why we need so many of them. My ideal nonprofit is one that goes after the government and asks why we continually pay more in taxes, but get less accomplished? I don't believe we as citizens should be expected to pay taxes and then dig deeper in our pockets to support organizations that are doing a job the government should be doing. blah blah blah That's the end of my rant...for now. Have fun. But please use COMMON SENSE in doing so...Big brother and the lawmakers are always on the lookout. PEACE!!!

"The station (Channel 2 RCTV) was about to lose its liscense to broadcast on May 27 and was engaged in a vigorous international campaign to denounce Chavez for crushing freedom of speech. The government contended that RCTV played an active role in a 2002 coup against the president and its activities -- such as journalists and politicians declaring on television that the president should be overthrown -- would never be permitted in the United States. The FCC would have shut it down instantly. Nevertheless, when RCTV later did go off the air after the government refused to renew its liscense, Chavez came under attack; everyone fromUS Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and President george W. Bush to human rights and free press organizations denounced his actions." Bart Jones ~Hugo ~

Albert John Lutuli1 (1898?-July 21, 1967) was the leader of ten million black Africans in their nonviolent campaign for civil rights in South Africa. A man of noble bearing, charitable, intolerant of hatred, and adamant in his demands for equality and peace among all men, Lutuli forged a philosophical compatibility between two cultures - the Zulu culture of his native Africa and the Christian-democratic culture of Europe. Winner 1960 Noble Peace Prize
A paragraph of Aung San Suu Kyi's essay In Quest of Democracy:Where there is no justice there can be no secure peace.
...That just laws which uphold human rights are the necessary foundations of peace and security would be denied only by closed minds which interpret peace as the silence of all opposition and security as the assurance of their own power. The Burmese associate peace and security with coolness and shade:The shade of a tree is cool indeed
The shade of parents is cooler
The shade of teachers is cooler still
The shade of the ruler is yet more cool
But coolest of all is the shade of the Buddha's teachings. Thus to provide the people with the protective coolness of peace and security, rulers must observe the teachings of the Buddha. Central to these teachings are the concepts of truth, righteousness and loving kindness. It is government based on these very qualities that the people of Burma are seeking in their struggle for democracy.
