Kaya Ropechain’s new album on i-Tunes

Kaya Ropechain was born in Bath, Avon UK. She was named Kaya Judith, due to family pressure her parents renamed her Nancy and she was baptised as Nancy Kaya Judith. She was brought up in rural Wiltshire until, after parental break up she moved with her mother and younger brother to Bristol. Her mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer before the move and one year later she died as the cancer had spread throughout her body.Due to the fact that her father had remarried and was doing his own thing in the 'States the children went to foster parents. Unfortunately the foster father had huge mental problems which were taken out on his family. Kaya left Bristol to attend the University of Central England, Birmingham to study an English Literature and English Language Degree, from which she graduated with Honours.In childhood Kaya had experience acting both on stage and television. She always had a passion for music. She is a trained singer and classical, jazz and contemporary dancer. She began her musical career MCing in night-clubs. She had contacts with promoters so she would be given the mic and would do a few numbers for the clubbers. She rapped in clubs to Drum n Bass, House music and to UK Garage with her local pirate radio station, Silk City. After she had experienced most of what the clubbing scene had to offer she stopped and started an HND in music to improve on her music production skills.Whilst there her course director decided to make a singer of her! Kaya was given ‘Ol Devil Called Love’ to learn and from that she was hooked. She learnt a vast jazz repertoire and many other styles of song. Always pushing herself to more demanding material including many rock tracks, blues and some opera. Kaya also enjoyed working with other musicians to perform some of her musical adventures – indie in a country ‘n’ western style, rapping with a reggae band, rock in an acoustic set and rock in a reggae style.Since then she has written, arranged, performed, produced, recorded and mastered her first album entitled ‘The First Album’ released under her own label, ‘Ropechain Entertainment’ which is now sold on i-Tunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon and emusic.Kaya composes all beats herself and uses no one else’s recorded music samples for her work. She has also completed her second album, entitled ‘The Second Album’!
