Marked For M adness!

About Me

Michelle Young started her career in Progressive music with the band Glass Hammer in the early 90s. Having been inspired by several artists, she launched her record label (Naosha Records) and solo career in 1996 with her debut album "Song of the Siren". Though she admittedly was "allergic to metronomes and heavy compression" at the time, she did much of the engineering and instrumentation herself, and worked very closely with Fred Schendel to complete the project. It was very hard work, but at the end of the day it was worth it. "SOS" opened many doors in her career...she was included in the 1997 book "The Billboard Guide To Progressive Music", and has been featured in many Progressive magazines, both in the US and abroad. One such article was seen by Ian Anderson, who contacted her to request some of her music. He really enjoyed it, and it was because of him that she went on to meet Doane Perry, Andrew Giddings, and the rest of the Tull lads.
Shortly after her first release, she met Clive Nolan (Arena, Pendragon, Shadowland) at a Progressive Festival in California. They decided to collaborate on her next solo album, "Marked For Madness", and the melding of their talents created what many critics have labeled a masterpiece! The lineup was brimming with talent...Clive Nolan, Doane Perry, Pete Banks, Bobby Kimball, Stan Whitaker, Peter Gee, and Karl Groom all contributed to the high sound quality, as well as it being mastered at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London.
Since the release of "MFM", Michelle has been involved with several projects while trying to produce her third solo album. She played the role of Caterina on "Leonardo, The Absolute Man", a rock opera by Trent Gardner, based on the life of Leonardo DaVinci. That album included a duet between Michelle and Steve Walsh, and showcased other talents such as James LaBrie and Chris Shryack.
She appeared on Clive Nolan and Oliver Wakemans album "Jabberwocky", played the role of Laura Lyons on Clive Nolan and Oliver Wakemans release of "The Hound of the Baskervilles", has co-written a duet with Jon Wetton, and has performed and co-written on both solo albums by Rudi Buttas, guitarist for PUR (Germany), including touring with the "Rudys Journey" gang.
As busy as she is, Michelle would like to share her music with you at MySpace.com, and encourages you to check out her official website as well, www.michelleyoung.com.
