About Me

The Background: I'm an Aqueeriass Fire Dragon, born on the same day as William S. Burroughs, Charlotte Rampling, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bobby Brown. As a child i was too lost in my own world, prone to accidents, as children often are. One time, i snapped the tendon on my big toe, snafu'ed my walk. It would seem i've been unbalanced ever since! As i grew up, i idolized the Beatniks and the punks and the old school funkers and various assorted freaks, geeks, queers and outcasts, whom i was probably not cool enough to join the ranks of, but i grew up to be a lover and a dancer. As a teenager i joined up with Militant socialist revolutionaries, but this was nixed in the bud when i eventually went to Art School (which was a bit too bourgeois, methinks), where i gravitated towards putting on parties that clashed the native doof stylee and punk sounds with weird performances (years before these sorts of fusions became fashionable...). There i met a wildcat rude girl who would join me inna non-legal "marriage" as protest over the fact that gay marriages weren't recognised by the govt. The ceremony was a symbolic castration, which summed up my feelings about mainstream heterosexual marital rites. I needed a "married name", and so was christened jorvn jones, inspired by Sly and the Family Stone's "Frisky". We tried for a while a little experiment in non-heterosexual marital communal living, but would eventually go our separate ways, vowing never to live together ever again. So much for nascent Utopian societies, eh? - Eh, c'est la vie... After this i had a strange period where i became a bit of a recluse, dropped out of society, threw away my television, and devoted myself to art and writing, as well as making a movie a day. Sometimes i miss the purity of those days. I eventually started attracting bohemian free spirits to me, and started leading an adventurous life. But, life being as it is, that still became not enough to satisfy me. So i moved to England, and stayed for four and a half years, mainly working in the art galleries there. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, i went a bit mad, i got into heaps of debt. I eventually returned to Oz. Which kind of brings you up to date in this potted history. I have an active social life and great, wonderful, smart, superb, beautiful friends, including the Atreides Amateur Camera Club, who've introduced me to MySpace, which in turn has introduced me to all the wonderful oddities out there in cyberland, all potential friends... Yay! What a gas!...

Lightning Strikes

I went to a poetry night this week. I haven't been to a poetry night in years. Australian poetry nights used to always seem more like comedy nights, which wasn't really what i was looking for. Nor was...
