I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they've always worked for me

About Me

19 year community radio veteran at 2RRR (88.5 FM - Sydney). In my time at the station, I've achieved the following:
* Board of Directors (General Board Member: 1992; Program Director: 1993; Youth Director: 2004 & 2005 and Administration Director: 2007 to present);
* Member of "The Jaunt Collective" (2000 to 2002; 2004 to present); and,
* Winner of "The Duke Farrell Award for Outstanding Contribution to 2RRR" (2002).
I currently host or co-host the following shows:
* "MMMH-FM" (Wednesday 8pm to 9pm): 2003 to present;
* "Transmission" (I do this show about once a month, sometimes more - Thursday 1am to 6am): 1995 to present.
Previous shows I've hosted:
* "The R Zone": 1993 to 2002;
* "Sing Along With Johnny": 1992 to 2001;
* "The Party Request Show": 1990 to 1993;
* "The What's On Show": 1990 to 1992;
* "AiRRRaves": 1989 to 1991;
* "The Earley Curley Breakfast Show": 1991 & 1997 (for six months each).
I've also DJ-ed under the following names:
* DJ Earley Curley (name I use on radio);
* DJ Gagoongaloon (current DJ name);
* DJ Crawshawforyourlawguarantor (former DJ name);
* DJ Split Colonbag^ (my experimental side project DJ name);
* DJ HelloWEEN (one off DJ name, playing a set of 100% Ween songs)
Besides radio, I've DJ-ed at the following events / venues:
* Triangle's Sideshow Alley (numbers 1, 3, 10, 13, 22 and 28) @ The Landsdowne;
* Beastianity @ The Marquee;
* Melloween @ The Landsdowne;
* Slimey Things Party on Planet X @ The Marquee;
* New Year's Evel Twin @ The Landsdowne;
* Porch Sessions @ The Annandale; and, * SST @ Spectrum.

My Interests

"If I'd written all the truth I knew for the past ten years, about 600 people - including me - would be rotting in prison cells from Rio to Seattle today. Absolute truth is a very rare and dangerous commodity in the context of professional journalism."

GOOD:
* 2RRR (my other home for the last 18 years) and being part of "The Jaunt Collective"
* Wrestling: TNA, PWA Elite, ECW, WWE, WWF, WCW, ROH, XPW, ACW, AWA & FMW; Backyard, Mexican, Old School, Australian, Japanese, Jelly, Honey (Amber Ladies) & PS2 Smackdown! series
* Reading / watching / taking part in any form of activity involving some form of Hunter S Thompson theme
* The "3C Meal": chilli, chicken and cheese (and sometimes "4C" with chips)
* Hot Hungarian Salami (my current food weakness)
* BEER: The Lord Nelson Hotel in The Rocks is my idea of BOOZE HEAVEN! Favourite beers include Coopers (love Vintage Extra Strong & Stout), Pure Blonde, Tooheys Old, plus I don't mind Reschs, Carlton Draught or XXXX. If forced, I'll drink VB or Tooheys New, but I will never drink Fosters!
* Collecting figures: wrestling (about 45) and Star Wars (about 130) and other star wars/wrestling rarities
* rarely being bored, except when I'm without things to entertain me (mp3 player, book, magazine, food)
* hanging out with my variety of friends at different locations all over sydney, including kellys on king street, the system of a landsdowne & various other locations
* the colours red, blue and black
* converse all star shoes (9 pairs: red and white; red and black; black; black and white; blue and white; blue with white pin stripes; khaki; dark with red and white pin stripes & FLAMES!!! YES!)
* my father's honey soaked bbq prawns
* PS2 (one day i'll get myself a PS3)
* looking up stupid stuff on the internet
* roadtrips (usually only to Gosford and back, just as long as their is awesome music involved)
* getting drunk and boasting
* being a roadie for various bands over the years including Slur, The Drugs & Triangle
* facial hair (remember: never trust a man with a goatee beard, he has something to hide)
* drawing silly objects and cartoons that make no sense to anyone but me
* laughing at try hard kinder goths, rivet heads and emo fags
* tattoos (eight - for me, eight is definitely not enough!)
* being able to hook up electrical equipment (stereos, videos and televisions) with a minimum of fuss and without looking at the instruction manual
* wearing caps & cowboy hats in public
* polaroid & digital photography
* talking to famous people without getting overawed
* watching any type of film that gets my attention for at least 10 minutes
* playing pool with "the elite leader"
* talking to my sister for hours about nothing
* having a multitude of nicknames
* collecting magazines about music, wrestling and tattoos
* my ring tone on my phone (it's "rockit" by herbie hancock)
* stickers
* playing guitar badly
* my Jay and Silent Bob figures
* being a home owner - owning a unit in the inner west
* but my favourite thing in the world is eating cheese. i really like cheese, particularly nimbin cheese, melted on toast with garlic butter - a minute in the microwave and it's done ... mmmmmmm ....

... and porn.

BAD:
* missing family members that have passed away, which is far too many in such a short amount of time
* people who talk too loudly on mobile phones on public transport
* "suits"
* olives & mangoes (ewww - the worst two foods in the world!)
* drum circles (goddam HIPPIES! i hate them!)
* homeless people & beggars, particularly the ones who have that unique "homeless man" smell
* nightclubs full of drunken yahoos and yobs
* football (all codes, except for soccer when Australia is winning) in fact most sport when Australia isn't involved bores me to tears
* calling colours names of fruits (peach is a fruit, not a colour!)
* work: either having to get their early or having to work back late
* clowns. I cannot stand clowns! they fully freak me out and I don't find them funny!

... and gay porn (between men).

I'd like to meet:

See my "Heroes" section for people that I hold in high regard; that is who I'd like to meet.

Please note that all quotes in the left hand column are by Hunter S Thompson (1937 - 2005)

Music:

"The music business is a cruel and shallow trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side"

Note: this list is constantly updated. All Australian (and some New Zealand) artists are in bold and deserve praise!
