Still Ill

About Me

Summer is well and truly upon us and its here to stay. For lots of us this time of year is punctuated by many brilliant nights out, and Sydney’s newest weekly club night STILL ILL may very well be one of them. Come along if you want to move it to the latest Patrick Wolf masterpiece or if you want to get loose to that classic Iggy Pop song that changed your life. Each week the best live bands and djs from Australia and the world will be breaking it in two on stage and to launch the party we have smokin’ hot new wavers the YOUNG LOVERS (Melb), the electric YVES KLEIN BLUE (Bris) and still bleeding after their shows with The Horrors, THE WAHAS. Drooling on the decks will be indie dj superstar PHDJ, art superstars BEN FROST + LA BETE and drinking superstars the violence djs. It’s happening every Thursday at 77 William St, Darlinghurst and will only cost you a measly ten bucks. See you there!!!
YOUNG LOVERS
“Young Lovers are a band that you should really pay attention to – they’re a five-piece hailing from Melbourne. Why do we love them? Because they’ve got a big dancefloor sound that echoes of all our favourite bands from the ’80s. We guarantee you will hear their tune ‘Talking in French’ on the radio in 2007” Yen magazine
At a time when Melbourne punters seem to have two left feet, Young Lovers are bringing the remedy. It’s not that the punters can’t dance, more that they won’t. Either way, Mornington Peninsula’s very own Young Lovers – Luke Carlson (vocals and synthesizer), Jake Oliver (guitar), Bill Winder (guitar), Scottie Chalmers (drums) and Rachael Jakubenko (bass, bare feet) – are having none of it.
Their self-titled debut EP features the irresistible ‘Talking In French’ pop smash and three additional gems, bound for dancefloor glory.
