About Me

MyGen Profile Generator dualpLOVER is the musical orphanage for those square pegs that have trouble being placed in round holes. Since our foundation in 1995 slowly, steadily and surely we have released a highly diverse range of music from Australia and abroad. Everything from avant-pop to folk to noise to hip-hop to vaudeville to comedy to post punk to parody to elctronica etc has bared our name. The name in fact is the literal English translation for the Japanese words for double-ended dildo, which in essence is what we do here; take it in from all directions! We are also a distributor of a startling array of musics from all over, a broker for CD/DVD manufacturing , a promoter of shows and tours. We pride ourselves in our doing these things differently from most and cherish all things independent.

SISSY SPACEK: FRENCH RECORD: CD. AUD$15
Since 1999, Sissy Spacek has been one of the most difficult groups around, with a starting point of full-../grindcore and an evolution to the definition of the most extreme/intense fringes of musique concrete, instantly identifiable by the handywork of John Wiese. On this, their fifth proper album, Sissy Spacek explore new territory, as always, and take turns no one could foresee into electro-acoustic improv, collage, industrial, noise and heavy metal, with a line up that includes Kevin Drumm, Kate Hall (Mika Miko), Sam Ott (The Fucking Angels), Corydon Ronnau, John Wiese, and C. Spencer Yeh (Burning Star Core). French Record is their strongest and most mature yet.

KEVIN BLECHDOM + AD HAWK: SICKFICK & MC DODGY SEXIST: 7" & CD. AUD$15
Possibly the sickest release we have produced at dualpLOVER! You would expect this type of perversion from label mates Suicidal Rap Orgy but Kevin blechdom? No sweet Kevy wouldn't rework a Beatles classic like twist and shout into a celebration of pre natal pleasure, or would she? Comes complete with bonus live to air CD recorded at Melbournes PBS FM's studio 5 live program during her 2006 Australian tour.

NAKED ON THE VAGUE: THE BLOOD PRESSURE SESSIONS: CD. AUD$15
Following from their self-titled single, Naked On The Vagues debut album, The Blood Pressure Sessions, dives deep into a world of apocalyptic pop and psychedelic weirdness... Lucy and Matthews disparate vocals grip onto stabbing keys and menacing hook-laden basslines, pushed on by an unrelentless drum machine far past the end of its warranty period. Essentially this is a punk assault packaged into nine distinct tracks that range from some almost dance-able short and sharp hits to gloomy extended freak-outs. Taking direction from where the short lived no-wave movement ended Naked On The Vague expand on what that imploded scene could have garnished had it not succumbed to its own fatalistic shortcomings.

"Excellent little dark n nasty"- Drop Dead Magazine.

AL DUVALL: THE TIMID MISCHIEF: CD. AUD$15
An unguided tour guide down memory Lane, turn of the century style American folk. Played on banjo, kazoo, guitar, musical saw, and a collection of spittoons, frying pans and medicine bottles. Als vaudevillian songs are heaped in black wit, double entendre and clever word play about kleptomaniacs, Moonshiners, criminals, loners and even more shadowy figures. The music is a mix of old-timey, ragtime, sea shanty, Victorian parlour and jug band. Recorded on wax cylinders and other lo-fi devices, these songs were meant to be written between 1900 and 1930, he just never got around to it until now.

"his lyrics strike with all of the bravado of a Tom Waits album, but with a twinge of the old Vaudeville stage thrown in for good measure."
- Folk it Up

NAKED ON THE VAGUE: SELF-TITLED: 7".sold out
NOTV fell into existence with a found organ, broken bass guitar, borrowed drum and some old doom poetry. Lucy Clich executes distorted keyboard melodies, while Matthew P Hopkins plays psyched out bass guitar, which is all kept together with pounding drum machine beats. This is their debut release a self-titled 7" capturing the spectrum of sound NOTV creates. Side A features the single 'All Aboard!' the self-proclaimed dance floor hit, plus the short and sharp 'God Nor Devil'. (alternate versions to the Blood Pressure Sessions CD) Side B features the slow doomy 'A Sunken Piece of Rubbish'. "Very stark in a black and white kind of way, and really quite hep"

THE REBIRTH OF FOOL VOLUME 3: COMPILATION: CD. AUD$15
After years of focus groups and market research we have come up with the perfect audio product for today's comsumer. what our research has found is that todays music consumer wants to eat shit and say yummy, so we concocted the biggest load of shit the world has ever faced and hand bound it in a 24 page gold blocked book so fancy you'd think you won lotto.
Yes our third installment of the rebirth of fool compilation series is simply a pearliest pearler ever, not only is it our most impressively packaged disc it's also the most expensive, labour intensive item we've ever produced. So if you wanna dumb down your ears down between bouts of xenakis and cage and hear the latest in retardation like 7u? channeling Wesley willis in an ode to this very organization, testimonials from my miserablelife.com put to music by fool veterans new waver, unrequited love songs set in seedy adelaide establishments, instructional songwriting cassettes, gay audio porn spoken in thick Australian accents, absurd police tapes and a whole lotta other stuff not worth listing then this is the album for you. TOXIC LIPSTICK: PRISONER OF HORMONES: CD. AUD$15
Toxic Lipstick are 2 14 yr old hotties dropping the bass and breaking hearts in sunny Brisbane, Australia. With shining eyes and glossy coats these teen skanks aren..t afraid to throw lips to the shit that really matters- ponies, boys, puberty, shafting acid and hosting exclusive popcorn sleepovers. A triple combo of dope beats, dope rhymes and dope rax with xtra fries, Toxic Lipstick are Australia..s most bitchin whorecore duo eva. They will shit in yr mouth, spew in yr undies and give yr pony the finest grooming she..s eva had.
After selling panadol to ravers to fund their first album ..When the Dove..s Cry.. the girls are at it again this time unleashing their difficult second album. Ultimately this new opus in pre-teenism shows that 'Doves? their first offering was merely spotting compared to the heavy menstrual flow on the new album Prisoner of hormones

"gratuitous eighth grade toilet/sex humour over speedcore tempos"
Cyclic Defrost Magazine.

NEW WAVER: NEUTERS: CD. AUD$15
A retrospective best off taken from New Wavers infamous cassette series spanning the 90's. Essentially Top 40 hits with the lyrics changed to address all aspects of loserdom, Or Weird Al with an extremely pessimistic neo-Darwinian worldview. In the New Waver world, everything comes down to survival of the fittest, a land in which the strongest and most dominant triumph and the rest are sidelined, ostracised, beaten up, and generally have miserable, pointless lives.

"Boring folks from the tax office singing boring songs from the 80s sounding tired, bored and beaten down by society. It sounds terrible, but it's not. It's genius."
- Inpress Magazine.

"Had Jean-Paul Sartre been born in Brisbane or Canberra, he could well have come up with something like this."
- Dev.Null

BRADBURY: INSTANT OBVILIAN: CD. AUD$15
Sydney Australias favourite chronically depressed, long term unemployed, alcoholic, asthmatic, homosexual electronic music pioneer. A man who's just spent the waking half of the last two years concocting this, his third collection of solo works titled 'INSTANT OBLIVION' between copius amounts of drinks and bouts with day time television. If his previous effort the lauded RUFFINI CORPUSCLE was a plumb designed to measure the depths of a luscious aural abyss. This album is the measurement discovered by its predecessors journey delving deep into exquisite musical epiphany.

"Bradbury is a master sonic bricklayer who has the ins and outs of tension and release down pat"
- Mess + Noise Magazine.

SINGING SADIE: SONGS FOR SWINGERS!: CD. AUD$15
Sing a little ditty with Sadie, the all singing all dancing queen of the burgeoning underground show tunes scene. Her songs hark back to the war years, a simpler time, when singing prowess was often overlooked favouring instead sharp and biting lyrics centred on drinking, dancing and prostitutes long passed their used by date, sung and danced with all the skill and execution of Florence Foster Jenkins.

"This Australian one-woman-show sings in an out-of-control voice that doesn't always hit the right notes (but they're usually close enough) humorously dirty lyrics over old big-band records. And then, maybe half-way thru each tune...she tap dances. Well, she tries. It's kind of the dancing equivalent of her singing, like someone randomly dropping silverware on a hard floor."
WMFU.

VOLVOX: EGG, PLUTO PUP AND YOU: CD. AUD$15
Volvox were one of the most extraordinary bands ever to emerge from Melbourne, or infact anywhere else. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, during their short existence (1991 to 1996) they never played outside of that city. Describing the unsettling nature of the Volvox sound is somewhat difficult without pointing out one unmistakable feature, the vocals style of Anthoney Riddell (aka 'Lester Vat'), their all-stumbling neurologically damaged front-man, whose infamous fall at the Redfern squats in the late 80s left him in a coma for months, and then with a significant movement disorder.
Our 2005 CD reissue of their second cassette Egg, Pluto Pup and You, marks the final installment of Spill and Dual Plover's resissue trilogy following our earlier (and now sold out) reissues of 'bad earth' (first cassette) and 'the damage begins at the mouth' (previously unreleased material). This series is an effort to preserve for all time one of Australia's true outsider outfits.

"perhaps the best band of their time. Certainly, Huhnenblut is worth the lives of ten thousand Cobains."
- Tom Smith, Bananafish

SISTER GWEN MCKAY: HANDJOB: CD. AUD$10
Straight from the corpus christie catholic college at camperdown, Sister gwen and friends never fail to fascinate and entertain with their barrage of questions to radio talkshow host and all round barroom intellectual peter hand. Learn the mystery of the word whoompah and the origin of the word bloouse through Nigels constant struggle with the English language.Be entertained by gwens theories on poetry and gang warfare, Discover the joy of cooking with pea water and how good it is for your digestive tract. And see why tony durham (judiths father) never made it with the seekers and why he is so proud of his famous daughter.

"it doesnt matter how many times you hear it, it doesnt get any easier to cope with."

GINA V.D'ORIO: SAILOR SONGS: CD. AUD$15
"This record is dedicated to the ocean. Ive always had a great affinity to water. If you put something into water it shines. Always. There is nothing more good, impressive, dangerous, beautiful, great and essential that you can watch with your eyes. My grandfather was bulding ships. So this record is in memorium of him. Fishes, boats and the dance of the waves, the colour of water are forever in my heart. Water stays water. My ocean can also float out of the tab. I don..t care. To me the recordings are very private. So everybody is invited to share this piece of privacy. It is a good privacy. Let your diamonds shine in the oceans. Do something good and throw it in the water!" Yours Gina V. D..Orio. DEANO MERINO: BABY CROCODILES: CD. AUD$10
Why did the woman of australia vote our dean (merino) grey as their diet-coke guy. it wasn't because he was a tanned and brave firefighter who looks great in a wife beater, no it was his talent as a singer, songwriter and casio enthusiast that brought him over the line. on baby crocodiles he delivers childlike precision pop about golf, axalotals, european cars and other issues.

NORA KEYES: SONGS TO CRY BY IN THE GOLDEN AGE OF NOTHING: CDR. AUD$10
Nora Keyes first solo album, ‘Songs to Cry by for the Golden Age of Nothing’ sounds more like an old 78 pried from the arms of a long deceased witch, found in a buried tea chest, in a forgotten woodland that the locals still dare not venture into, than the efforts of a nice Los Angeles born girl, joined here by her talented friends Rebecca Lynn (violin). Ray Day (guitar), Creekbird (brass / drums) and Dame Darcy (auto harp / saw).

"the bastard child of Anton LaVey and Kate Bush".
- blunt Magazine.

BRADBURY: RUFFINI CORPUSCLE: CDR. AUD$10
Molecular glam is how gary bradbury (ex severed heads) describes his first solo album in 14 years RUFFINI CORPUSCLE. this eclectic selection of works, amassed over the past three years, incorporates a wide range of creative strategies and techniques including: customised pianola rolls (Never the Less), randomised digital cut-ups (The Boulevard of Broken Arms), dismembered vinyl (Sinistrogyric Mobius Disc) and analogue synthesis (Big Man On Campus, Speaker, Filmore Honey). Intensely melodic, full of rhythmic and textural detail, this collection presents the culmination of his recent extensive sonic explorations.

"Bradbury has the rare double, not only is he meticulous in his execution, but he's been able to produce not one but fourteen new atmospheric worlds, where the laws of nature no longer exist, but chaos is kept at bay by Bradbury's odd and innovative logic".
- Inpress Magazine.

DEERHOOF: LIVE (KOALA MAGIC): CDR. AUD$10
"live, half-hour-long Koalamagic serves up one long and four short tracks from the group over four years' time. Only bassist/singer Satomi and drummer Greg appears on all tracks, making the disc a sort-of band history as alternate arrangements and lineups came and went. The long cut at the start is actually seven or eight tracks from a 2000 show cut as one combined track without any edits, featuring the turn-of-the-millennium trio lineup of the group finding their own stop-start crumble and crunch metier. Greg is arguably the most prominent member here, his blasting clashes on his kit slipping through tempos and fills just as he pleases without diluting the energy, though guitarist John, who proved a smart recruitment for the group, comes up with great abbreviated riffs and squalls. Satomi herself projects the spirit of a winsome singer crossed with caffeinated genes as she pleases -- the initial shift from high-pitched aggression to sweet calm is downright startling -- but for the most part relies on subtlety even as she and her compatriots fire things up. Meanwhile, the band's dips into classic rock raunch for seconds at a time make for a disorienting experience that's still pretty cool -- it's almost like a Led Zeppelin soundcheck that's meant to sound that way, only with a different singer. The remaining numbers are enjoyable enough dips into Deerhoof's disorienting sound; "Insist," featuring the same lineup as the lead track, is a fairly monstrous slab of post-punk doom gone epic, while the 1996-era medley concluding the disc encapsulates chaos in six minutes flat. Satomi does a nice job rocking the bells at points, to be sure."
~ Ned Raggett, All Music Guide

THE REBIRTH OF FOOL: VOLUME TWO: COMPILATION CDR. AUD$10
Wrong yet catchy, stupid yet dignified, retarded yet astute, benal yet glorified, yep our second installment of dual foolery conjures up alot of feelings some would say are better left supressed. features melt banana, new waver , damien gooley, bradbury, spasmodics, sweden, funky terrorist amongst many others. SWEDEN: SAME DIF: CDR. AUD$10
If you have been disapointed by dualplovers output in the past, please consider the earspliting audio autopsy of 'sweden' on his debut lp 'same diff', featuring living legend WINNER front man SWEDEN on vocals and second hand records, accompanied on electronics and treatments by Garry Bradbury plus special guests the inmates of Fanny Deacon's Retirement Home on percussion. It's like karaoke without the practise rooms, a caberat nosie style re-enactment of catacysmic musical moments from the 60's and 70's performed with all the skill of a young council official. starting with the sinister opening bars of White Rabbit to the orgasmic climax of Macarthur Park. NOISE RAMONES: ROCKET TO D.N.A: CDR. AUD$10
When EYE submitted this ultra lo-fi trance noise track for the Rebirth of Fool volume one a little late, we decided to capitalize on it anyway by releasing it on it's own, with a few remixes by our own dj smallcock thrown in for good measure. MERZBOW: MASCHINENSTIL: CDR. AUD$10
"'stormy monday' was a title taken from first track of lee michaels album (a&m 1969), cause this composition is looks cluster organ sound! this organ sound was made by 5 oschilators unit, ring modulator and of 20 pitch shifters and enhancer, limiter, drum sound which sampled on 1 second sampling delay was taken from terry bozzio drum solo on 'hands with hammer' which featured on frank zappa 'you can't do that on stage anymore vol.3 (zappa records). i was very liked that drum sound. so, recently i often used bozzios sampling on stage as previous eupopean tour.
'shin kawasaki' was inspired from landscape of shin-kawasaki industrial city. i recognized this station first time when i back from yokosuka by fast train of yokosuka line. i used drum machine(tr606). also used exd electro drum kit for bass sound. these equipments are sound very techno pop in early 80s. my composition was inspired from equipments too." - Masami Akita. MASCARA SUE: BIRO BIRO: CDR. AUD$10
J-pop parody supremo from the far more attractive 50% of Machine Gun TV. What a single yellow female can do in a flat the size of your average kitchen is astounding. Gorgeous nonsensical pop interwoven with nothing but the best quality white noise that only poverty can buy. Doing for casio driven noise pop what Milli Vanilli did for karaoke. ALTERNAHUNK: SELF TITLED: CDR. AUD$10
Drone disco queens featuring Phoebe Jeebes off beat electronics and Jasmine Guffonds sterling bass lines combined with the ethereal voice of Adrienne Patrick made them a one of a kind in the world of electronic music in the 90's. The CDR version comes complete with the also sold out Funky Terrorist - 5!5!5! EP (Phoebe Jeebes post alternahunk project).

VOLVOX: BAD EARTH: CDR. AUD$10
the second installment of the spill / dualpLOVER reissue trilogy of one of the most unique but unheralded bands to ever exist. bad earth was a CD reissue of their 1991 cassette release that was initially available as an edition of 100. VOLVOX: THE DAMAGE BEGINS AT THE MOUTH: CDR. AUD$10
The first of the spill / dualpLOVER reissue trilogy of one of the most unique but unheralded bands to ever exist. the damage begins at the mouth documents the bands best unreleased material. A coma and nervous damage gave vocalist Lester Vat a unfair advantage in singing, backed by the unusual instrumentation by george taskas and glen something or other.

released by 8mm records in italy, limited to200 copies. side A - 190 seoul 290405, side B - 189 seoul 280405. Recorded in Seoul, South Korea on two consecutive nights. The second performance was particularly memorable. The venues wiring lets just say wasn't up to Australian operational health and safety standards. Every time Yeldham reached for his pedal belt he was receiving considerable electric shocks, it hurt, but he persevered anyway. The cover art was drawn by audience member Iso during his performance.

NAKED ON THE VAGUE: SAD SUN: CDR. AUD$10
"Naked On The Vague are thrillingly deep in a woods all their own on Sad Sun – a new EP on rising Melbourne label, Sabbatical Records. No one in the country makes claim to as spectrally macabre or chilly territory as this eerie Sydney duo right now, whose sound has moved from bracing synth punk (see DualPlover debut 7”) to a full-blown Gothic expression of cosmic dread on this, only their second release. Atmosphere is all-important here; a subtle attitude of awed listening persists as if for the scratching of unknown, outside shapes at the universe’s outmost, darkest rim.
The five new songs are heavy and enchanting like the cracking drift of glacial pack ice. Opener ‘Horse Pt. 2’ is a Carny gaze-number with echoes of La Monte Young’s drone and weird Pan flute. ‘White Blanket’ gets darker with a machine-driven pulse and ominous, growled refrain; ‘Cover your eyes with a white blanket / Smother your face with a pillowcase’. ‘Blood Pressure’ has a spine-chilling whistle and feedback harmony in the breakdown, and closer ‘Sad Sun’ reminds of Current 93’s demon-folk stylings. These are telekinetic hymns of doomed pleasure. Current Mood: Moonstruck."

AL DUVALL: CORNOERS & KNIVES: CD. AUD$15
Born June 31, 1877 in Pahrump, West Virginia, Algernon Otmer Duvall began his musical career on the vaudeville stage as end-man in Lew Dockstader's Minstrels. He fought in a bicycle squadron in Ypres during World War I, where he received a crippling dose of the Hun's mustard. Returning home, he made ends meet working at a sausage factory in Harrington Delaware from 1921 until 1989. He took up the banjo in 1991 as physical therapy for his pleurisy. He went on to master the alto kazoo at the age of 118. "Al" Duvall attributes his remarkable longevity to a daily dram of Hamlin's Quinsy Balsam.ty to a daily dram of Hamlin's Quinsy Balsam. AL DUVALL: HEY RUBE: CD. AUD$15
Born on Pancake Day, 1877, in Wryneck-on-Bellend, Shysterchestershire, England, in the Royal Workhouse for Children, where his parents were inmates. He learned the motions of banjo playing in London, as a toilet trader, and later worked the music halls as The Albino Blackface Singer, The World's Weakest Strongman, and That Git With The Bloody Kazoo. During military service in Borneo at the Liberation Massacre of 1904, he was killed by a cannibal. His last words were: "There's a man after my own heart."
