Naked On The Vague fell into existence in early 2005 with a found organ, a broken bass, a borrowed drum, and some old doom poetry...
Naked On The Vague is a two-piece girl-boyact. Hop plays eerie bass and Cliche plays frantic keyboards, with ping-pong vocals, minimal percussion clatter, and an anonymous drum machine to keep pace. N.O.T.V create a monotonous stern melancholy…
We’ve played shows with an amazing array of diverse bands such as My Disco, Love of Diagrams, Grey Daturas, Zond, The Stabs, Castings, Fabulous Diamonds, Kiosk, Lakes, Kevin Blechdom (US), Limited Express has gone? (Japan), The Gossip (US), Pretty Girls Make Graves (US), Night Wounds (US), Black Ice (US), Fuck Wolf (US)., as well as playing the Big Day Out Festival’s EAR Stage curated by Gary Bradbury of Severed Heads fame.

‘POLTERGEIST PALM’ 7"
Skulltones
Released May 2008
"Naked On The Vague is also battin 1000% & on this 7" for Skulltones, their patented brand of Apocalyptic melancholia fever is runnin at a fever pitch. The A side cracks & peels behind a 'Discipline' styled drum beat while Matthew & Lucy's vocal trade off's resemble the malaise akin to once upon a time Lee & Nancy ( aka, the original Chris & Cosey) recounting a night at Spahn Ranch, where they was sick from the tofu roasted over a kerosene bonfire & exasperated by the results of a Family hootenanny. The flip finds our hero's not a little wrecked from the copious amounts of Fromme procured dirt-cheeb they'd inhaled & who knows, maybe it'd even been 'dusted' w/LOVE by Charlie himself. It's a wild world babe, that's alls I can say."

Dual Plover
Released November 2007
“Sydney duo NOTV are the real post-punk, sidestepping asymmetrical haircuts and U2 influences to explore the darker fissures of no wave and angular noise. But it's not all dour posing as the occasional cheesy Casop beat or nifty bass line breaks through the gloom, and in this light Lonely Boys is practically a pop hitâ€.
Guy Blackman Dazed & Confused (Aus/NZ)
“The Blood Pressure Sessions is certainly an impressive debut album offering from NOTV that shows the duo using the broader canvas afforded them to expand considerably upon the possibilities hinted at on their preceding EP and 7†releases, and one that's likely to further their cred with both indie fans and 'experimental' / noise heads alikeâ€.

‘SAD SUN’ E.P (..http://sbbtcl.com/sbbtcl/Sabbatical )
Released August 2007
â€Naked On The Vague are thrillingly deep in a woods all their own on Sad Sun – a new EP on rising Melbourne label, Sabbatical Records. No one in the country makes claim to as spectrally macabre or chilly territory as this eerie Sydney duo right now, whose sound has moved from bracing synth punk (see DualPlover debut 7") to a full-blown Gothic expression of cosmic dread on this, only their second release. Atmosphere is all-important here; a subtle attitude of awed listening persists as if for the scratching of unknown, outside shapes at the universe's outmost, darkest rimâ€

“One of my favorite 7"ers thus far has been this debut from an Oz duo what's called Naked On The Vague. Utilizing mainly rickety keys, fuzz bass & percussive splat as a backdrop-not to mention the to 'n fro vocals- Lucy Cliche & Matthew Hopkins really excell at conjurin up a Wicked Witch Of The West version of Times New Viking. Or how about an Emerald City Cabaret Voltaire? 'Do The Mussolini' indeed! They's even took marker's to sleeve for authentic DIY enhancement. This one's been gettin alot've play†Tom Lax- Siltblog
“Sydney based duo with keys, female vocals, bass and drumbox. Unlike some groups with a line-up like this, they stay away from beats and focus on No Wave (or perhaps, 'little band' harshness. Very stark in a black and white kind of way, and really quite hep"
