"There is something of Walt Whitman's exultant poetry in Brakhage's movie rhymes and patterns.The film is broken into a Prelude and four subsequent parts and visualises ideas of family and humans against the immensity of nature. The film is elemental with the images and structure as expansive as the skies and landscapes that unfold. Through it all an apocalyptic sheen prevails. (...) The need to conquer the landscape and the natural world as a way of defining oneself is an especially American compulsion and Dogstar Man is a hymn to the overwhelming power of natural forces".(J.Clarke)
Cristiano (drums, home-made electronics, objects, live electronics) and Marco (guitar, electronics, objects) started to play as “Lendormin” in 2001 as an improvisation-duet, dedicated to spontaneous composition: decomposing rock, dada incursions, noise architecture and soundtrack for imaginary movies. Lendormin is always open to collaboration with various artists and to explore the possibilities of superseding genre because labels and definitions means nothing for the listening ear: they are means of music repression. This led us to work with artists coming from different experiences like DBPIT, Ian Mclachlan, Renato Ciunfrini, Claudio Parodi, Luca Miti, Larsen Lombriki, Len Massey, Sean Bonney, Esther Leslie, Ben Watson, Mikaele Pellegrino, Toni Hiroshima, T.H.F. Drenching & Sonic Pleasures, Helena Velena, Ken Ueno. Lendormin performed in Italy, Europe and Asia: at the avant-rock festival Newton in Latina, at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, at the Bonnington Centre and at the Royal College of Art in London, at the dark-noise festival Modulor in Recanati and at “Ubusettete” in Rome. They did some shows on "Resonance" radio in London hosted by Out To Lunch.
NIGHT DAWN DAY – MUSIC FOR GEORGE ROMERO (december 2006)
"Night Dawn Day" is a perfect example of the way in which Lendormin employs interplay with different musicians to create music which is more than the sum of the individual efforts. It is not, however, a mere collection of several “improvisations”, as the improvisations were carefully deconstructed and reconstructed in the shape of a concept album dedicated to the Zombie-saga of George Romero. The CD is divided into three parts; each of them was improvised with a different musician, in order to get three totally different moods, sounds and musical structures. “Night” is a nocturne, swept by the industrial trumpet of DBPIT . “Dawn”, played with Larsen Lombriki , is a deranged, rock’n’roll assault to the listener. “Day” is a crazy mixture of free-jazz and noise, enlightened by the Tayloresque pianism of Luca Miti
