I started playing the bass guitar back in those hazy secondary school days at about the same time as digging around in my dads collection of Jimi Hendrix and Cream records and realising that I needed to do something else other than play football all day long...(I am now thinking that there could have been good money to have been made in that football lark - possible a huge career mistake). Lots of front room/garage rehearsals later and I was ready for the big time. Oh yes, Salford Uni. I served a full three year sentence, passing the long hours by learning double bass. I also indulged my interested in Latin music by starting a small group that ended up being a very big group - Almeida Girl & Descarga. I have done a lot of writing for this band with singer Kirsty Almeida. We are currently recording some more of our collaborations so watch this (my)space. Purely for financial reasons I also started playing jazz. Soon the big bucks were rolling in. I got to compose jazzy things too for the Barnwell/Chadwick Quartet including music for jazz quartet with a string quartet. Along my musical magical mystery tour I have played with many great muscians who amaze and inspire me. Long may it continue!
