Jake Newman has played music since the age of five, finding his way onto his chosen instruments, the bass guitar at eight and the double bass at thirteen. After a teenage apprenticeship in bands he took things more seriously and following music college went on to become a professional bass player on both instruments, a job which has seen him perform worldwide, with amongst others Ike Willis and Robert Martin of Frank Zappas band. Jake freelances and plays regularly with a number of professional outfits in the UK and abroad as well as doing sessions, and is currently the bass player with the up and coming Yamit Mamo, with whom he is working closely towards an upcoming album.
