What a great vibe!

About Me

I am a sax/flute player who loves to play and teach! After graduating from the University of Salford in 1997, I have enjoyed playing with: John Taylor, ("Suite for Manchester" written by Andy Schofield for Manchester Jazz Festival 2005) Will Lee and his "Fab Faux" band, (Liverpool Beatles festival 2004 and 2005) "E2K", "Amazonia" (Paul Kilvington, Mike Walker, Steve Gilbert, Frank Grime, Chris Kruiks, Duncan Winfield), the "Richard Iles/Andy Schofield Jazz Orchestra", the "Georgina Bromilow Big Band", the "Paul Bentley plus four band" as well as many big bands and function bands in the North West.
I have led my own projects, including "Bossa Nouveau" which performed at Manchester Jazz Festival in 2000 (listen to the sounds!) and H Gang, a Steely Dan Review band which headlined at Manchester Jazz Festival 2006.
I have played on Richard Iles' "From Here to There", Tony Faulkner's "Thad Jones and the Ellington Effect", and Georgina Bromilow's "Till there was you" albums. I have also played flute on the imminent (we all hope!) albums of Paul Kilvington and Mike Walker.
I have been involved in teaching for the last ten years, working in primary and secondary schools all over the North West. With "Music fo Life" (a not for profit organisation) I have helped to run the "Music for Life Big Band" which toured Holland in 2004 and Spain in 2006 (see picture!). I had the opportunity to teach children in workshop settings, helping them to improvise in front of an audience sometimes for the first time, at venues such as Crewe Lyceum Theatre and the Northgate Arena. Thanks to Alastair McWilliam, who showed such confidence in me all those years ago I have gained invaluable experience in working with children of all ages and backgrounds. At "The Music Place" in Altrincham I have taught on a one-to-one level as well as running two jazz bands on a weekly basis. In addition to this I was a member of staff on the children's music and drama summer schools, and the jazz summer schools for 2005 and 2006.
