I'm a freelance trombonist in all fields of the profession, having performed with the likes of the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, Opera North, BBC Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Northern Ballet Theatre, D’Oyly Carte, Ulster Brass, RPO Brass, Psappha and Ensemble 360. Have had many trials for positions with some of the UK’s leading orchestras including the Hallé Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Symphony Orchestra and London Philharmonic Orchestra. Also been invited on many tours including to Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic with the famous Fine Arts Brass Ensemble.
Aside from classical playing, additional performances alongside the likes of Brian May, Roger Taylor, Lulu, Victoria Beckham, Jamiroquai, Roger Daltrey, Julian Joseph, Des’ree, Björn Again, The Hollies, Bob Geldof, the Honeyz, Suzi Quatro, Al Martino, David Gest, Ruth Madoc, Brenda Edwards (XFactor), John Dankworth, Cleo Laine, Jacqui Dankworth, Pete Conway, Urban Cookie Collective, Bonnie Langford, Michael Ball, NYJO, Clare Teal, Don Lusher, George Chisholm, Mark Nightingale, Guy Barker, Gerard Presencer, Julian Argüelles, Victor Mendoza, Bobby Shew, Marti Pellow, Jerry & The Pacemakers, Peter Kay, Liz McClarnon (Atomic Kitten), Martine McCutcheon, Darius Danesh, Atomic Kitten, David Hasselhoff, Claire Martin, the John Wilson Orchestra, and touring with Roy Wood have filled the diary.
Session work features on a number of commercial soundtracks to feature films, adverts and albums including Badly Drawn Boy’s “The Hour of Bewilderbeast” winning the ‘Technics Mercury Music Award’, a ‘Q Award’ and ‘Album of the Year’. Have featured on singles in the Top 10 UK charts several times and dep on numerous touring and West End Shows including Chicago, The Lion King, The Producers, The Rat Pack, Ray Charles and Spamalot.
Work in 2007 has included the recording of the Doctor Who soundtrack for the third TV series, a second series of ITV’s ‘Soapstar Superstar’, playing Euphonium with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland in Dublin, teaching at Trinity College of Music in London where I am now a full time member of the faculty, working with Bournemouth Symphonic Brass and playing at the 100 Club in London. Most recent work has included playing with 'Bonestructure' with Mark Nightingale, touring Africa & Europe playing & singing backing vocals with Michael Bolton and I've just returned from Malaga where I was a guest professor for a Youth Orchestra. Next on the cards is lots of orchestral work with nice programmes. (i.e Planets, Rite of Spring etc! Woo-hoo!)
