How I made my profile:
I used Dave & Jay's amazing myspace profile editor ... Well it's surely about time that i got my act together, 2 years in the French countryside is quite enough... for those of you who know me and those who don't! Born in the cutural centre of the universe, namely, Stourbridge, England, 34 years later living in France with the love of my life and trying to reclaim my identity as a Saxophoniste. It all started at the tender age of 10 when my father's love of music prompted me to learn the electronic organ; pedal, chord, pedal, chord!! Oh what splendour the 1980's brought to the world, but no joking apart, learning all those chords certainly did help. It turned out that my grandfather, long before i was born, was a church organist and pub pianist! Anyway, cut a long story short, i took up the Clarinet at 13 quickly followed by the Saxomophone at 14(long before lisa Simpson arrived!), after 2 years of playing Sax i won a scholarship to study at Chethams school of music, Manchester, hothouse for promising young musicians. Some years later returning to the Midlands i found a network of musicians and played in lots and lots and lots of different bands, jazz, blues, soul, funk, latin, rock and roll, reggae, classical, indian, earning money in the daytime teaching for Worcester and Sandwell councils and living it up the nightime rehearsing, gigging and drinking! My most rewarding experience was directing the Sandwell Youth Jazz Orchestra. A great group of young musicians, we got to play with some of the greats! Andy Shephard, Julien Siegel, Steve Lodder, Dennis Rollins and Bobby Shew.Anybody out there who helped me carve out my musical path i thank you deeply, i think of the good times we all passed and how honoured i am to have met you all. Big up!Some of the bands i've played with - Walsall Jazz Orchestra, Midland Jazz Orchestra, Roy Woods Army, Queen, Bob Geldof, Roy Hemmings 'Dictionary of Soul', Soul Satisfaction U.S.A, Solid Soul, The Commandmants, Jam Jah Man, Toegrabber, 65 special,Jezebelle, Word Girl, Mambo Taxi, life in a Tin, Tim Amann xtet and others...! Whilst in France i've worked with NZZ blues and my own Trio. 18/06/2008 - Currently having a break from music, due to lack of musicians and music, the French countryside is beautiful but ...Giving English lessons to small cute French kids is my bag for the meanwhile!BELOW YOU WILL FIND EXTRACTS OF ME PLAYING WITH 'THE TILDI HORTON TRIO' and 'LIFE IN A TIN' BR>
